New naked member

I sold the 636 and I am lined up to buy a SV...I know I know its not a 919 but I got it for 2K and it will haul me around this summer. It used to be stunted so its pretty beat up but I really dont care because it runs great. (PS..I know the previous owner so I know its not a peice of crap)

I was worried to visit the thread "naked member" for a second there, but it's okay.

Congrats on going plastic-free!

We only speak to those who sing the praises of the 919 around here, sorry.
No, seriously, welcome aboard. BTW, I have an sv650 also, but don't tell these guys.

A two thousand dollar SV is more fun to ride than drooling over a Honda that you can't pay for.

Ride it like you stole it (which you almost did) and save your pennies for that beautiful Honda along the way!

Have fun. (btw, is it a 650 or a 1000? I assume it is a 650 but i had to ask)

Thanks for the welcome....except mike....

But I really couldnt pass up the deal. I wanted a 919 but 5K was a bit too much since I had to buy the wife her bike also. And I wanted to do it with cash so now both bikes will be paid for. I will post pics after I pic it up. The tank is dented in for highchairs, I believe it still might have the 12 o'clock bar on it. That I will remove and the tank I will have to find on ebay...but to just go for a ride....I will ride it.

j/k with yah turn!
On a serious note the SV is one hell of a bike. In fact one of my friends has 3 of these in various trim. All mint condition and no plans on giving them up. The SV on the track is extremely competitive with a few suspension tweaks. For club racing it was this bike that put the final nail in the coffin for the 650 Hawk -GT.

Got my SV!!! A bit rough though. Looking for some suspension...either traxxion dymanics or a GSXR swap. Anyone know of some good track sites where some people might be selling some used parts??

nesba.com
svrider.com
go with aftermarket over gsxr. Most of the oem stuff is beat up when taken off. Besides that, the aftemarket shocks can be rebuilt. Gsxr stuff is definitely better than stock, but if you can find a good deal, aftermarket is better. Traxxion, penske, fox, ohlins (of course). Lots of used stuff for sale on those two sites. Of course there is always ebay...

nesba you have to be a member???(I think) to look at the boards. Correct me if I am wrong and I already belong to SVrider.com. Anyone know of anywhere else I dont have to join to find cheap race parts?

You do not have to be a paid member to look at the boards, just to race. All you need to do is go to the site and register for a screename. I did it for a while before joining. Also try chicagolandsportbikes.com since you are in the area. don't take a lot of advice from that forum because there is a lot of useless crap going on, but there are almost 4K members and there is a for sale forum. Might have some luck there. Stick to WT for the sound advice though. Not that there aren't some knowledgable members there, but there are many more morons. Now watch, someone one this site is a member there and they are going to read this, and I am going to get chewed out. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time. Besides, it's the truth. Good luck with the search.
