new member howdy

Hi there,

I'm a new member to the forum, just wanted to say Hi.

I recently picked up a 2007 919 that I found at my BMW dealer. I used to ride an F800S, but when I saw the 919 I had to have it.

First pic is what it looked like when I got it, second pic is after I got it naked again. Two Bro exhaust installed (bike came with it uninstalled). Took off the engine cage and replaced with motovation frame sliders. It came with full luggage, and I removed the top case and am only keeping the side cases. Just added black ASV levers. Next up are new mirrors that are on order, and I'm going to recover the seat in stingray hide soon. Also installed the windscreen I picked up from Jay313 on here.

I LOVE this bike. I can not wait for warmer weather!!

Instead of using Stingray hide you should use Steve Irwin hide. Much rarer.

~Warning threadjack~

I coach baseball, 15-16yo kids and nowadays some of the gloves these kids use are like $500. I joke with them about it being made out of manatee leather or newborn Italian babies.

The guy who owned it before me had a Corbin seat made. It made the bike too tall for me, it added almost 3 inches. Corbin's are designed for your height & weight, and over time will actually mold to the shape of your butt.

You still have the cages? Any interest in getting rid of them?

Welcome to the forums, enjoy the ride!

How well did the windshield that came with it block the wind? Would it work for someone ~6'1''?

Glad you got the screen installed no problems. If that is the Givi system, be warned that the side mounting brackets bolt onto the top mounting bracket. I am just using the side cases, but I had to fashion a support piece that runs from underneath the grab bar to the side racks.

Had some PM's regarding the items I pulled off the bike: the top case has been sold, and the crash bars have been "put to use" twice so they're slightly bent and scratched. I wouldn't feel right selling them along to someone.

Welcome to the fountain of 919 knowledge. Be sure to use locktite on your shifter bolt!
NO that is not talking dirty - that is serious advice I found and did not follow on WT.

Or do like I did and install an old CB750 shifter for instant GP shift and no bolts-a-fallin' worries. (Thanks, Mr. Mike)

Hey Uber ! Welcome ! I just read an article on the 800 BMW and it was quite flattering...if you chose a 919 over it, that is saying a LOT !

I was just looking for a Black Corbin with red piping today online....would you consider selling it ? Or is it gone already ?
