Honda's not making new motorcycles anymore, the just made lots of extras the last few years so all they have to do is slap on a different color and SHAZAM!!!!!!! 2009 models.

Honda always announces their new models at the dealer show in September. Not sure on the exact date of said show.

That Vmax reads like a real badass, just about the only choice I got around here of a Vmax making an appearance is in the next magazine article. Or, if someone here snags one and takes enough time out of the saddle to write up an article.
I'd sure like to experience THAT BAD BOY'S acceleration! I have a vision of Rollie Free riding style hanging horizontal, holding on for dear life to the handlebars, feet dangling in the breeze!
Then I read that it's governed at 137mph. What happened to 186?
It sounds like the insurance people barged into Yamaha's R&D with their, "List of Demands!"

actuall sniper, within a spitwad of 700. it'll be quick, proving that there are two ways to approach "power to weight ratio", and i can't deny it'll be quick in the quarter. in fact, with the 10 kph "overboost" feature programmed in, the 1320 appears to have been a MAJOR concern of the engineers.

still, you can get a dry nitrous brand new 'busa for thousands less that will be reliable, SMOKE the max, and actually HANDLE too ! (sortof...as far as 550pound bikes "handle")

Though I like the new V-Max.

+1 with Bucky for bang for the buck. Even better is a XX with Nitrous and Turbo.

It's naked, there's no way you'll see much over 137mph anyhow. Unless you have a neck like a buffalo!

i've said it before, the BEST part of that pic is the fact that he's doing a buck fitty in his panties...while staring straight down at the stripe. riding blind, per se.

Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy.

683lbs.? I owned a 1979 CBX (bought new in '80), and it was a PIG. Adding 6-32mm smoothbore Mikuni's, a 6-into-1 Kerker, Fox air-fork kit, etc., just made it a faster PIG. I can't imagine fighting 683lbs. into a tight turn or a sweeper, and trying to hold a line. Maybe I'm getting old (I am!), but working that hard just ain't "fun" anymore.

"stupid" ??

compared to what?

lest you forget that "normal" society thinks we're stupid for riding at all.

please refrain from denouncing a motorcycle hero and record setter.

but owning a modded cbx sure buys you a chunk of salvation with me. at least with that bike (compared to a vmax) you really owned something special, pig or not. the exhaust song alone...

Relax. Only "stupid" in the sense that I wouldn't do it! Old school guys would do ANYTHING for a few extra MPH's. The "X" was a true pig in the corners, but the Mikuni's and Kerker garnered TONS of attention. My wife used to call it the "silver bullet". It wouldn't wheelie easily, but I couldn't keep a back tire on her for more than a summer.

you're talking the late 70's. EVERYTHING was a pig in corners, relatively speaking. especially hogs.

don't make your actions the barometer for intelligence. you're no gump. ("...as stupid does...")

The ZR1 Kaws and the GS Suzi's were MUCH better in the chicanes, but when we'd hit a straightaway, I looked like Wile E. Coyote on the Acme rocket...
