If it had more cajones in the engine area, I might be impressed at their attempt. Thus far, I am .

Looks like they resurrected the HawkGT 52 degree V-Twin motor which BTW was a slug. Performance from this 595lb. auto. whale will be poor at best.

Casino dollars to the first person to post who was the first ex-racer to design the "sit-in" style and product his own line of bikes. This style has been around for awhile folks.

Wow? I'm surprised by everyone's responses. Yes, it's overpriced, but has anyone read any reviews or mounted one yet?

From my previous question, the design has been done and with some great reviews on comfort and handling. A hint to my earlier question is Alligator or 'Gator.

To me, its just another form of bike to bring more riders in the our world. It's not a scooter and it not another H-D clone. It's new and different. I say kudos! Kudos to Honda for taking a chance. Kudos for offering a less "threatening" motorcycle to the public. It may just help ease the "frightening mom" and "I know someone that got killed on a motorcycle" syndrome.

I forgot to many in this group Harley's suck. Since everyone is "Johnny Racer" and so freak'n fast on their bikes on the road?!

I personally think its a total POS- over priced, heavy, slow, etc. - BUT , it will have a section of the market it will appeal to, alot of people want to get into motorcycling but dont want to have to shift , want something totally rock solid and want something that looks like nothing else out there - this bike will appeal to them . I wouldnt bet it will do well, but, I wouldnt bet it wont move some units -

Again Honda has nothing really new or mind blowing. The RR's are good bikes but why do they need abs? This thing is ugly and slow. The motor does look like the old hawk motor much slow even in a lighter frame. Where the hell is the v5 and a real Motard. I think honda missed the mark go for the new R1

But , you can take this as an example of targeted Honda marketing - there are, for some unknown reason, people who love that bike !?! Heck, they ever took the lowers off and sold the crap out of it in Europe !

I think the ABS on sport bikes is all about the traction control rules in the racing circuit. My opinion though...

I don't care for the styling and the price seems way too high, but if it were $4,000-5000 cheaper I bet they'd sell a fair number of them.
Some people like futuristic looks or easy-to-ride bikes, but don't like the concept of a scooter, even though some of the bigger scooters would give this bike a run for it's money.
It's not a terrible idea, but that price point will kill it.

Be interesting to see how many dealer orders there are for the dn101. I've been waiting for a new vfr, blackbird or hornet. Europe just got a replacement for the 919/hornet, a CB100R. Not likely to come here because it is made in the EU, Spain or Italy. The strong euro/weak dollar supposedly would make it too expensive here in the US.

It's interesting that just 90 days ago Honda said they had no intention of bringing the DN-01 to the US, and now here it is. Rider magazine does a test ride in this month's edition. Lots of complaints -- no luggage at all (not even a small compartment for a gloves, etc), its schizo - can't decide if it's bike or scooter, horribly uncomfortable, poor MPG, big cost, no accessories at all, odd handling characteristics.

Damn. Too late. RC asked about the Dan Gurney bike and that blure funky thing flashed in my mind but I crashed when it came to researching. So it shows up in this months M/C.

And the Pacific ? Call me a fat chick.

The Aprillia Manna is cheaper and has the Shiver's motor, if I were going to buy a scooter disguised as a motorcycle that would be my choice.

I was offered a demo ride on one ... but it's just not my sort of thing at all so I passed on it. I sat on one though, and it gives the stomach muscles a real work-out just getting your feet up off the ground onto the bike.

I was going to say the same thing.

The DN-01 has hit the shores downunder as well but I can't see Honda being on a winner here. As mdtoney said, if they'd knock off a 1/4 off the price, I can see those who are tempted with a maxi-scooter going for them. Otherwise,
