New Headlight for the 9'er! Guess what it is off of!

Ok, I am going to see how this headlight will work and if I can make my own windscreen to go with it.

I have some drafts, but I need to get the light mounted up so I can start measuring and mocking up a windscreen (fly screen). However the light is not here yet. I'm going to use Stainless Steel or Fiberglass for the screen, but that cant be determined until I know how in depth the screen is going to be. If it has a lot of angles and curves it will be done in glass, but if I can keep it simple I would like to do Stainless.

Anyway, here is a drawing of it. Do you know what it is off of?

Looks like it could be one of many Honda sportbike models.

I'll let this go for a few more tries and then I'll start giving some hints.

The cool thing is, I believe that I am going to be able to do all of it for under 100 bucks.

Oh, it runs dual H4 Lamps. I will have HIDs installed once I round up the money for that but for now the Dual Stock H4's will do.

Ripper, keep us informed how the fabrication process goes. I've wanted to do something similar with almost the same style light - I haven't actually found the right light yet, but I want a mini cowling around the light with a small Honda-style windscreen. Something similar to the street version of the Hornet Cup fairing. but I have no idea what materials to use or how to even begin the project. I'll be following your project with interest!

I'll be sure to let you know.

I have another light I'm wanting to try also, but because of the shape I will need to incorporate a piece of the surrounding body material to give it a clean look.

Looks pretty much like a VTR1000 unit as per Ridin'Ryan919's pic. It was the first bike I thought of as soon as I saw your diagram. I owned one up until 6 weeks ago.

Good one Mike! You've got it! It is the headlight off a 2006-2008 TRX450R.
Here is a close up pic. If I can make a nice enough flyscreen/windscreen I will have it done in Carbon Fiber like I did with the hood shown in this pic. I like making one off parts.

The nice thing about these is they have a great light pattern and since you can't run MX with the lights on the bike you can find tons of them on ebay with the bulbs and wiring harness for under $50.

If I had a prize you would have won it!

I resized that pic you posted so it wasn't so HUGE!

That was my baby, it has more custom parts than most hookers. The only thing stock on it was the frame and most of the parts were custom one off parts or the first of their kind. It is pretty well known (plenty of media coverage) in the ATV Sport world. Featured quad on several of the ATV Web sites and Magazines.

I sold it to buy the 919... I kick myself in the butt every time I see a pic of it. Nothing like putting your blood, sweat and tears (let alone 25K) into a toy just to sell it for a quarter of what you have in it. But my marriage and family life was suffering from being gone and or spending too much time out of town with the Quad.

So I sold it and bought a Bike, something that the wife and I can do together. It has been worth it though! I love that I can still ride and the wife can go with me.

Anyway, it will be cool to bring something that meant so much to me into my new hobby. Believe me, in time I will have the bike just as tricked out as my quad was.

You know, I honestly almost said it was off a quad of some sort, before the Cub Cadet won me over of course.

Ripper, did you ever finish your windscreen/cowling with the TRX headlights?
I wish I had the resources to make stuff like this. I'd be working on something similar to the street legal Hornet Cup headlight cowling; but with a semi-functional windscreen that was a few inches taller. With the dollar at an all time low, it would probably cost $700+ to buy it now. Do you know of a similar headlight, or what the best material would be to do a project like this?

This project was a total failure. So bad I burned the photos and buried the prototype at the bottom of the city dump!

I tried! I failed! I'll try again!

If they'd just listen to the back of my PIMP hand I wouldn't have to replace them all the time!

I'm going to make the switch to Man Whores and be a Man-gina Pimp. (Deuce Bigalow reference)
