New Buell 1125CR

I know the majority of youse guys are into the Buell, but, they just released thier 2009 line up, and they have a naked 1125 in it now. Kind of reminds me of the B King - Which I also like - .

That's not a bad looking bike! I've always liked the way Buell fabs their exhaust--meaty and menacing.

Do you think they have the guy riding it in the pics wearing jeans to attract the Harley guys?

I think its funny how everyone is coming around to the Buell thoughts on exhaust - They were putting thier exhaust down low since 89 !
Ive yet to ride a 1125 - kind of want to ---

The R doesn't look bad, but with the CR those rad shrouds stick out like a sore thumb. They need to be cut back, moved or something. They shouldn't stick out further than the headlight.

I rode the 1125R to check it out this past year.
I was not really interested in it, but more interested after the ride.
Just for grins I asked how much OTD.
He told me $13,500.
I laughed and told him I would need to do some soul searching to pass up a new Speed Triple with exhaust, belly pan, and fairing with several hundred left in my pocket.

So they changed the headlight and top faring on a 1125R and called it a naked. no thanks.

I've heard the scoops on the 1125R aren't as daunting in person as they are in the pictures, but the ones on the naked appear to be bigger... but not sure.

Hmmmm...don't like it, those scoops need to be removed, same with the funky headlight and fairing.

E-GAD!

When did seeing a radiator become a crime? It looks like they put the saddle bags on the front. Harley started it with the "hide it on the Vrod" campaign.

Hiding radiators is not a new fad.
Sportbikes have them all tucked away.
The GoldWing, ST, VFRs have hidden them well too.
Part of hiding them is also protecting them and when you cannot fit them in front of the engine... You need to direct air through them.

And the VROD is nto hiding it, they just prettied it up with a shroud.

I kind of like my friend's Ulysseys. But, it abslutely roasts my right leg.

Ya know guys, several new nakeds have come out in the past couple of years, and nothing is really a whole lot better than a nicely modded 919, especially when you factor in cost.

For the money their asking for this new model you would have to pass up alot of really good machines from all parts of the world. I don't see one in my garage anytime in the future.
I guess the new found riches in China or India might entice a rider to look into an American made Buell as opposed to something from ming ching or another 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet.
How about it Eric, could you build an American Standard that doesn't look like it came off the next Transformer's movie set. A sit upright frame with two wheels, a gnarly engine for all to see and your cool exhaust and brakes? A Naked should be minimalist in bodywork plastic.

I cannot think of or find a naked with side mounted radiators.
The three bikes in particular I mentioned have side mounted radiators and that is why the were listed.

This is not a challenge but a question...
Can you give me an example of a naked with side mounted exposed radiators?
I cannot immagine with out a shroud they would get any flow through them worth noting.

Naked-no, but why do they need to be side mount is my question to the Buell brass. Those things are embarassing & ruin an otherwise decent looking bike. Lots of naked V's use a traditional radiator (SVs, Tuono, Vrod, slew of Jap cruiserrs, Honda Hawk GT). That's all I'm saying.

My guess is with the traditional short wheel base of the buell, mass centralization and a huge hot header pipe up front, they are unable to fit a radiator of any size up front with reliability. So they are forced to the side radiators. For the radiators to work on the side, you need to funnel air through them, hence the ugly duct work.

It probally that they wanted to be able to keep the bike cooler than they would have been abel to with the radiators tucked in - My Tuono has split radiators with the header coming out right between them, but, not overly large scoops -
I spoke with some guy from Buell about the XBRR a few years ago and he told me that the fairings on that bike were so large so it could sut a smaller hole in the air at speed , thier coefficent of drag on the XBRR was actually lower than a GSX-R 600 - Im guessing thats the case for these bike as well.
