Naked Thursday with Cows

Wrapped up work at noon and headed out on the Hornet for the first time this year. High 70's and sunny, windy but a perfect day for riding, got in 150 miles.

First ride on the 919 always puts a smile on my face, so much different than the big sport tourer or the dual sport. I think I say this every year but I always kind of forget how fun it is, smooth easy revving power, quick and maneuverable, pulls hard and makes great noise.

I should have known it was going to be a meaty ride when I stopped for lunch...

But I didn't realize the recurring theme yet when I took this picture...

But shortly down the road I came across these fine specimens...

Rode by a Tibetan Monestary near Bloomington, sure they're vegetarians and mess up the meat theme but I still thought it was cool.

No cows here...

Open road, gotta love it!

But wait, more cows! This time with some llamas thrown in to break up the monotony...

Back to town, liked this pic so much I posted it in two threads!

Met Gin and friends for dinner at the tavern...

I need to get motivated on the 919 now, order some new tires and install my adjustable front forks. Would love to get the suspension sorted out and new sticky rubber, it would inspire a lot more confidence on those twisty country roads. The winter pocked city streets were brutal coming home, kind of forgot how the 9'er has an ejecto-shock, got spoiled by the XR soaking up bumps like my Toyota 4x4.

Anyway, a fine day! Lots of cows and exclamation points!

yes, but you have to turn your bike so you're between the lines, otherwise the cops might give you a real stern talking to

Nah, the cops are always so amazed to see a rider wearing full leathers and protective gear around these parts that they let me get away with murder!

ejecto-shock

...that's a great term for the stock tool. ALMOST made me sell the bike, until I found a suitable shock for it. Glad you were able to ride!

Is there a thread where you discuss the mods you've done to your bike?

i.e.,

What mirrors are those?

Handlebars?

Grips?

The pipes look like blacked out Sato's (?)

Mirrors are Rizoma Naked Radials from PJ's Parts

Bars are also Rizomas, as are the grips, slider bar ends, and rear sets. Levers are Pazzo longs.

Pipes are Sato carbon fiber with powdercoated heat shields and clamps.

Here's an old thread where some of the mods are discussed: https://wristtwisters.com/naked-bikes...mods-pics.html

They're actually Continental Road Attacks, have been excellent tires. I've got 10,000 miles on them and are just now ready for replacement, going to try Michelin Pilot 2CT's this time around.

Here's a better close up pic of the bike, how about that Phobman stand?

I still have a couple of things I want to do to it, have some adjustable forks that I plan to powercoat and install, also want to powdercoat the side bracket where the rearsets mount and the triple trees. Might go for an Ohlins rear shock eventually if I find a good deal on one. Also want to ceramic coat the header and have considered lightly polishing the swing arm (not chrome like, just a bit of buffing) and having the outer edges of the black wheels polished to help provide some shiny contrast to offset all the black.

The bars are priced reasonable.
The grips are priced OK.

The mirrors... holy mack.

The rear sets... holy holy mack!

Yeah, Rizoma is proud of those finely machined aluminum bits! There are some other similarly shaped mirror options out there now that are more reasonably priced, the rearsets are comparable in price to Satos or other quality brands.

Another naked Thursday today, this time without cows. The lovely Gin joined me on her Hornet and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon taking the long way to nowhere. Did a 150 mile loop south of Indy through Brown County and back, the hills were green with trees are almost fully leafed out, the redbuds are in bloom making the countryside purple, the air was sweet with spring blossoms, it was truly a perfect ride!

Sorry to push into your thread sbeau1960, but with a thread title as such I couldn't think of a better place to put these. Oh, and they were taken last Thursday.

NAKED THURSDAY WITH COWS
The Title kinda reminded me of the act refered to as, "Stumpbreaking." I just figured it was something you fellas up North participated in after those long cold winters!
