Naked Friday

Blew off work this afternoon, weather was too perfect to resist a day spent on the 919 riding through southern Indiana. Here's a few pics...

In front of Indiana University Memorial Union, Bloomington...tried to get a pic in front of the impressive main entrance to IU off Kirkwood, but would have had to ride up on the sidewalk among pedestrians in heavy traffic, after going around the block three times I decided it was a bad idea, settled for this instead...

When's the last time you waited on a train? One of those scary country crossings with no lights or arm to stop you

You can have clear train and blurry instruments, or blurry train and clear instruments, but you can't have both!

Abandoned farm somewhere east of Bloomington, couldn't resist this scene

I like rustic settings obviously

Lake Lemon, between Bloomington and Bean Blossom

Glad Mr. Dragonfly ate the fork and not my visor

Back in the city after a most satisfying day!

High of 80, most of the day in the 70's with a blue sky full of fluffy clouds, couldn't have asked for a better day for a ride in the country! Wore full gear and was completely comfortable, hard to say that during the summer in Indiana.

Those are some pretty good shots Sbeau. I'm originally from Monticello,IN. and have family up in Bloomington and Lafayette areas.

Glad you enjoyed your naked Friday, but every day is good to be naked.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for a beautiful country scene, as you've all probably figured out by now from my repeated shots of rolling fields, grazing horses, old barns, etc. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy.

We're going to the Indiana State Fair Sunday, Gin and I will spend hours browsing through the animal barns and exhibits, reminicing about our happy childhoods growing up in rural Ohio and Iowa.

Probably have to wear clothes though

They're Rizoma Radial Nakeds from PJ's Parts...

http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/inde...f664f45de823a0

Be prepared for sticker shock, but they are extremely cool, very well made, accent the tank shape of the 919, and best of all, they work great!

I was thinking of you Gert when I took that pic, figured you had stories to tell from your IU days!

Those barn pics are off 45 headed east out of Bloomington, great country road full of curves. The Lake Lemon shot is off Northshore Dr., lots of flood damage there, trailers and vacation homes in bad shape, sad to see.

Most of the fun is riding, but I do enjoy taking posed shots as well as recording cool scenes I encounter along the way. Thinking about buying a smaller camera just for motorcycle rides, one of those wafer thin Casio's perhaps.

Nice.. I like the 2nd pic the best. It really draws my attention to the gauges. That is what this picture is all about, the ride. Love it!

I was thinking the same thing, just couldn't decide which pic to post so I put them both up and let you guys decide. Two votes for clear gauges!

I also just realized looking at that pic again, you can tell it wasn't a hot day because there I am idling, waiting on a train for 5 minutes and the temp gauge is barely above C.

Nice shots, I should take my camera along for the rides through the SC Lowcountry to show. Lots of historical sites around here. Thanks for sharing some of your ride and beautiful day with us.
My temp needle has risen higher than I've ever seen it in the year and a half I've owned it lately. It's been a scorcher here.

Naked Friday, Part II

Don't hate me, it's another beautiful Friday in central Indiana, currently in the mid 70's with a high near 80 and clear skies. Can't beat if for this time of year, so you know what that means....

The only decision was whether to go naked or full dress today, decided that naked suited the mood better and plan to ride the FJR this weekend with Gin anyway, so it's me and the trusty 9'er!

Thinking that I'll head west today, old US40 towards Terre Haute, explore some new territory. I'll take some pics of course and see what fun stuff I can find to share.

I'm liking this "Naked Friday" thing, could turn into a tradition!

Don't usually head out east much, roads are flat and straight that way. Have some friends that live in Shelbyville though, not far from Rushville.

Thanks, I was actually looking for one of the radioactive dew green bikes but found this silver one at a good price and jumped on it, since then it's grown on me, silver hides the dirt perfectly.

I've learned that from all the black cars I've had over the years, driving a silver Jetta now and it's a breeze to keep looking good in comparison! The all black 9'er is a bit of a challenge and collects dust, but a microfiber towel cleans it up quickly.

My father-in-law lives just a couple miles outside of Rushville. County roads are really weird out there compared to here. Most are paved (which is nice) but not the best condition & really narrow. + there are no ditches! The fields butt right up to the roads in most cases I've seen.

Doesn't hide dirt as well as the metalic dirt (Arizona beige) color on the F250 but it's got alot less surface area too.

Thanks for the info...I have been pondering going the corbin route, definitely like the look without the welting between panels.

To tell the truth I don't remember what I paid for it, I rode over to the shop in Hollister and they put it all together for me and I handed them the credit card, the rest is a blur.

Ok, spent a great day on the road, got in 230 miles total. Took a totally different route this time, not as many curves but very scenic. Enjoyed a little bit of everything, city riding, 80mph on the Interstate, perfectly smooth country blacktop, and some good old twisty two lanes. Made it to Terre Haute, hadn't been there for 20 years. Hasn't changed much.

Here ya go, today's photo extravaganza...

At the office, the big yellow toasters are what pay for the toys

Man in the window, ready to head out...

First stop, Putnam Park, about 45 miles outside Indy...

Turns out it was Kart racing today...

Looked like a blast!

Off to Terre Haute next. Yes, even Terre Haute has Starbucks...

And totem poles, who knew?

Back to the country, there's more to Indiana than corn fields you know...like bean fields!

But there are a lot of corn fields too...

And old country school houses...

And the occasional fire truck for sale...between Brazil and Poland, Indiana that is, $5900, 38,000 miles, 1997 Ford E-Pumper, just in case anyone's interested...

Back in the city, view of the $720,000,000 retractable roof new stadium...

Which is across the street from my tavern where I hope to see everyone coming to town for MotoGP next month!

Next Naked Friday I need to take fewer pics of my bike and more of the scenery, the old 9'er might be getting overexposed
