Great choices! the Rex is (from my limited experience) a ton of fun, reliable as dirt, and has classic lines like nothing else remotely modern. And all of the torque! Keep em pretty and wring them out like they were designed for

30,000 mile 919 survivor. No plans of stopping the abuse any time soon.

I love the little wiggle the Rex does when you really lay into it.

I only got to ride my friend's a few times, it was his baby; spent more time washing/ polishing/ maintaining it than he did riding it. But it made him happy; and I knew I didn't want to be responsible for a new scuff on a tire or worse
Needless to say, I never really got to pour the coals on; but it was one of the butteriest bikes I have ever thrown a leg over, and moved out well at any RPM! Perhaps someday I'll become an equal-opportunity type of person and allow a Nonda in the garage; the Rex would be at the front of the list.

I ended up with the Rex by sheer chance (luck) is was a local deal, an older gent... he bought the bike new and was getting on in years and selling his bikes off. I got it for a song. Had been garage kept since new... It has 36k on it , but its really clean. I know how your buddy feels, I'm always cleaning it. that tank probably has 20 coats of wax on it.
