My rear fender delete

Last year I did my own rear fender delete. Figured I'd post up and maybe give some of you food for thought on your own bikes.

First I pulled the entire rear cowl and fender off. I only cut slits in the fender to slip the factory turn signal wiring out. Otherwise the factory fender is undamaged.

Then I slipped on my new pipes for mock up. Cut a piece of alluminum angle braket. I drilled and tapped the bracket to use the factory rear fender fasteners.

I then took my license plate and trimmed around the pipes and drilled two mounting holes for the plate. I also found some Ebay specials for LED turn signals. Took some alluminum flat strap. Bent in vise. Cut, drilled, painted. Mounted them to the factory upper license plate holes. Also on Ebay, picked up two LED license plate light bolts. Mounted them in the lower factory plate holes directing light up at the plate. Tucked the wiring into the factory frame location.

I didn't know if the plate would flex over time, but after 1.5 years and over 6K miles, blasts to max 919 velocity, it looks just like the day I mounted it. I have aprox. $30 in Ebay lights into it. The alluminum bracket pieces were free scrap from work.

While I was at it I also built my own rear stand from Aluminum extrusion. Very rigid works well.

That looks very nice. I especially like the distance between the blinkers. Is there a tag light?

I like how you pointed the indicators up like that. Looks different. Where in MN are you? I'm down in Lakeville

By the way, why is it everyone blots out the license plate when they post?

^ cause you can find out someones name, address, and alot of other personall info that wouldnt be readily shared with the rest of the world. You cant control who sees what when you post something on the world wide web.... Unfourtunatley there are some unsavory people out there always wanting something for nothin, or just plain nut bags that'll burn your house down over a keyboard war. Its just a shitty side of people not everyone is a good person.

love your wheels BTW fly... looks, well, FLY!

Thanks guys!

My tag light are the LED's studs in the lower licence plate holes. They seem to light the plate pretty well.

Pipes are 1st gen Satos Ti. Found them last year on Ebay for $500 new in box from Chicago Cycle. Needless to say I snapped them up.

I've been thinking about making a front stand too. Just haven't got around to it yet.

You live in the culdesac? Good place to live if they ever decide to re-do sewer or water since the lots usually have smaller frontage.

I try not to take 5 very often. Traffic usually sucks. Now that the 212 freeway is open I hit that. Do you live right on 5? My brother worked for Carpentry Contractors and built a couple of those house back on Rolling Acres.
