My new to me 919

Just got my new bike this past week. Some of you may recognize it as Pvsters wrecked bike. Before I go on I must say how great of a guy Pv is. Not many people would offer to rent a Uhaul and haul a bike to a shipping terminal. Just to save someone they dont know some money. Its nice to know there are still some decent people left in the world. Anyway I had to ship the bike 1800 miles to get it here. I plan to do a PCIII, a pair of michelin road pilots, levers, paint job, 520 chain 17/44 sprockets, 900rr header, and some other misc mods. The rear cowl is cracked and the tank has a small dent, and some misc items are bent but overall its in good shape. It will probably take me most of the winter due to money being tight, but should be pretty easy. I remember reading on a post awhile back about Givi crash bars breaking, but these held up and did their job.

I saw the bike in person, and was surprised the shape it was in.
I pictured it far worse in my mind when pv posted about his wreck.

I was a little jealous when he told me what he sold it for.

It'll be nice again in no time I'm sure.

Congrats.

I have a real cowl. It's 2003 smoke gray and has very minimal scuffs. Not cracked at all. Great painter piece.. tiny bit of filler and some sanding.. prime it and you are ready to rock. I will sell it for what I paid plus shipping. PM me and we can talk details if interested.

I thought it was a little loud when I fired it up the first time It really is in good shape, I cant believe how little damage can total a bike. You have every right to be jealous, Pv made me an offer I couldnt refuse.

Thanks for the offer Moto, I forgot to mention the bike came with another rear cowl.

Does anyone have a spare one of these? Not sure what to call it. Its the one on the right side, its barely damaged so I might just use it if I cant get a hold of one.

I've been thinking about switching all my silver stuff to gloss black. My tank has about 4 little pin head size marks in the paint, on the front of it, the front fender is perfect, I thought the rear cowl had a tiny little scratch in the clear coat, but I couldn't find it the last time I looked. I want about $375 for all 3 pieces. I'd split shipping. I also have a pair of baffelectomized cans that I'd let go on the cheap.

No, definitely not baby blue. Ive seen a few other blue 9'ers on here it must be a europe only color or something. I really like the look of them

I was being an ass, they do look sharp. Bright colors just look weird to me on a 9er seems like a grey/silver/black kinda bike to me (as Im about to put gold wheels on mine like a walking contridiction), the blue does look good though.

You know I was the same way, I really think that Uranium green is an odd color. But something about that blue is just appealing to me. Gold wheels? are you a poser

I said wheels not grill! And my swing arm is stock length so I think not.

Im copying Flycatchers wheel combo but on my matte smoke 9er. Hope he doesnt mind he's on the other side of the country so we don't have to worry about pullin up to the same lot! Looks so good on his bike I may just go against everything I thought I liked and look around for some red tins. I think Ive just had the bike forever and modded the hell outta it to the point where now Im bored with the way it looks even though the way it rides still pleases my hooligan side i may need to switch some stuff up. Maybe flat black with a gold racing stripe (like the shelbys in the 60's) and gold wheels would be the biz... Who knows Im gonna keep diggin though its fun.

Flycatchers setup looks really nice, but you should do flat black with the gold stripe. It sounds cool and would be unique.

See that one looks sharp, the more i think about the black and gold racing stripes the more Im leaning that way. Im a mustang nut Ive had 15 of them and I been riding most of my life so if I can pay so homage to one of my loves with one of my loves that would be schweet!

I really do like the color and was leaning that way, but I cant take all the credit. My wife suggested blue saying "it would be sexy" that was all the persuasion I needed.

Mod #1 set of Pazzo levers. This would have been one of the last things I did, after I was actually riding the bike. But for $80 shipped, I couldn't resist. I love ebay. The brake lever is perfect, but the clutch has a small scuff on it.

Just got done putting my 900RR header on for now anyway. It still needs sandblasted and painted, but I wanted to see how it all looked. I cant decide if I want to shorten the can or leave it alone. Im thinking about chopping it right infront of the D&D badge. I should probably put the rear cowl on before I decide, Im sure that will alter how the setup looks.

Im guessing your takling about the pair of tires leaning against the wall? They are actually off an 82 Honda Sabre I had. Unfortunately it will be a month or two before I see any new parts. That is unless I find some more ebay bargins.

my guess is put the cowl on will help you decide how short you want to cut the can. but it looks like some cutting def is needed. great progress!

nope I was talking about the 9er, being an ass again. You're definitly going to want the cowl on before you make any permanent desicions but personaly I think the lenth is gonna look about right with the tail section in place... maybe not though.

Just went and looked at mine, my can ends just before the edge of the rear tire. Yours appears to be just a bit longer. So your D&D badge idea may just be the ticket.

Oh, well in that case the 9er rear is actually a Harley tire. You'll have to ask Pvster about that one. I will definintly put the cowl on first and do alot of staring before I cut anything. Im holding off on that though because I bought a ventura rack system off ebay. Its for a CBR1000 I think so while the cowl is off I am going to chop the brackets and make them fit. It was cheap so it should be worth it. Im just north of des moines
