Thanks for all the awesome feedback! I really do appreciate it.
I rode the bike yesterday for about 150 miles, and when I went to look at it this morning, with the brake dust and dirt on the wheels, it really did look better! So maybe I just need to keep the wheels dirty!!?
But you know what? I really don't want to tear it all down again, especially after not having barely ridden it since Dec. 5, when I first dropped it off at Magic's.
Magic was supposed to paint a red stripe on the stock wheels, as part of his package, but I decided to do the wheel swap instead. So he still owes me that! I'm gonna talk to him about painting a black stripe on these, or maybe he can mist it with some black paint, similar to how he did the fade on the checkers. I think that might look cool. Tim, the powdercoater, said he did match the red as best he could, but he understands it does not appear to do so, once mounted. I'm pretty sure Magic can work his "magic" and come up with something.
As far as the decals go... For those who may not be aware, the "919" on the bike are not decals, they were painted to give the bike a cafe racer theme, along with the checkered stripe. Check out http://www.cb750cafe.com/
and take a look at his cafe racers. On most of his bikes, he's got decals placed in such a way as to add to that character, or play off that theme. With that theme in mind, I always had the intentions to add "sponsor" decals to the bike, especially on the belly pan, and at angle just like we see them on racebikes. The SBM decal may be misplaced, though. That area seems like a relatively large flat space, and something needs to go there, but maybe not that! Something round, or not so square. I want the bike to "look" fun, because that's what the 919 is all about. Hmmm... Maybe I can put Harry the Hornet there?!
