May be selling the 9'r

Just curious,

Mine is an 06 with 31k miles. Still runs like a champ and has had all maintenance performed by only the dealer. Mods are;

PCIII

Yoshimura trs exhaust

Gold Renthal ultra low handlebars

Gold footpegs

Honda Windshield

I dropped it twice in my driveway leaving scratch marks on the left case cover and a smaller scratch on the right engine case side.

Just curious.

Just wondering, 31k miles or 3.1k miles? Seems like 15k a year is way above average miles per year and 1.55k a bit low. Then again you do live in Florida. Just wondering.

How much would you be asking and would you be willing to part anything out (PCIII)?

For around $100 you could replace both the alt cover and gasket, and clutch cover, cover. Then advertise as being scratch free and probably get a bit more moola out of it.

I use mine to commute to work. At 46 miles round trip and the occasional trip to daytona, it adds up to 31k in 2 1/2 years. Finances are getting a little tight right now so i have to look at all options. TRUST ME, it will be the last resort but I just wanted to get an idea if it is even worth it looking into. If I do sell it will be a whole package, I won't be removing any items.

karl: It appears you use the bike for commuting. Unless you buy some high mpg scooter the 919 makes perfect sense to keep. Are you worried about racking up excessive mileage on the 919?

Sort of, besides the financial issues I am a little concerned with how far this bike can actually go.

Not to worry that much. I am up to 110,000 kms which is about 60,000 miles. It still pulls hard with no major problems. I have replaced bearings and brake pads a little more than most. Like your bike, a lot of my miles are on the highway. Just keep it, maintain it, it will keep on going. I am sure I will get over 200,000kms on mine. Its a HONDA!

Hornet owners over in the UK have racked up over 100,000 miles. At 31k yours is just getting broken in.

I know, I know. I am just a semi weekend warrior and use my bike riding as a reward on weekends after chores and stuff are done.

IMHO, you will regret tossing it dude, and end up getting something else down the road, with NEW payments and such, not to mention the fun factor of having such a neat bike. sounds to me youve modded it a little, and you DO like it, ponder it some more.

Bill

+1 All Honda vehicles are ready for all the miles you can throw at them. Just do the normal things like change the oil, check fluids, brake pads, and gas. I had a '92 Accord that I put 325,000 miles on before I sold it. Had no issues when I sold it.

I'm putting a little over 1,000 miles a month on my 9er and have no intentions of letting up...well...maybe a little when it snow.

Aiiight, not gonna sell her. I don't think I could actually bring myself to do it anyway. I recently bought another car and the finances are pretty tight after having to get some repairs done that literally popped up after putting about 400 miles on it. Lets just say I sank an additional 2k into the car after paying 7500 for it, less than a month ago. It was just one of those things, but I love the hell out of it.

It's an 02 jetta.

I kiddingly mentioned today at lunch selling the 9er for a downpayment on a Lotus or an airplane. I was informed by the GF that I am never allowed to sell the bike. My bad.

Then the abuse continued cuz I admitted that maybe we didn't go on enough long rides this summer, and she snapped back that she misses getting lost and riding for like 8 hours in a row to the point where all you want to do is lay down and give your ass a break. Imagine if I actually go out and get her the comfy passenger seat she wants...

I would think it is time to get her riding if she likes it that much.
