Question Low and Naked

I'm looking for a bike for my wife. We used to ride years ago, I had an FJ1100 and she had a Honda Hawk. I've gone to a 919 and she's got the bug again as well - any ideas

If she wants something comparable to her Hawk, the 500 Vulcan is pretty cool. Plus, it's got the same sweet 500 parallel twin that is in the 500 ninja, just tuned a little differently for more torque and low rpm use.

My wife is pretty short but loves the Hornet.

The solution, new seat and ohlins shock (they make one specifically for the Hornet to reduce the ride hight)

Now we have one each

Hers is the black one

Or the 599.

And Kendog, would you quit posting pics of your bike. I'm going to fly over to NZ and steal it.

Since it's been a few years, go smaller first since it's easier to handle and brake. How about a Rebel for a while? You'll have to wait at the turns anyway.

:001_smile:

Just wait till the new year. A couple of subtle mods left to go, a new camera and a whole lot of new pics for you.

But seriously, the 919 is a great bike as we all know, and ladies can ride it too.

My 919 is just physically too big for her. It seems that the monoshock bikes all ride a little higher than the old bikes with dual rear shocks. I've been thinking about restoring an old 60's to 70's CB for the wife. They seem pretty small by comparison to todays bikes. I'll take a look at the SV650.

Thanks for the ideas

The only bike I can think of that's close to an old CB in design is a Bonneville. Kawasaki made the retro W650 for a couple years; you may be able to find a used one with some effort.
