Lil' Yellow Hornet, Revisited...

Update on the newly acquired 599 discussed here...https://www.wristtwisters.com/forum/s...+yellow+hornet

Replaced or repaired all the damaged parts. New engine case covers, right rearset, thermostat cover, brake lever, right bar end, and headlight rim. Rear cowl bodywork repaired and painted, side panels painted, speedo housing still on order.

Added OEM windscreen, Clear Alternatives clear turnsignal and taillight lenses, Motovation frame sliders, cutesy lever wraps, painted rear hugger. Decided the hugger wasn't flattering and removed it, will try and sell on ebay or the 599 forum. Installed black mirrors, shortened rear fender, removed reflectors.

MIVV exhaust still to come, the scratches on the exhaust heat shields are the only evidence of being down. Also need some cool Hornet decals for the rear body, and plan to do some black powercoating this winter.

Lowered front end 15mm, rear shock set on lowest position, seat modified and lowered about 1.5", shortened kickstand 1". G has new Icon SuperDuty2 boots with thick soles, and she's quite comfortable on the bike now.

Here's some pics...

Rear Hugger...too heavy, makes the back of the bike look thick IMO. Oh well, seemed like a good idea

Only one question, how is the GF going to pry this sweet looking ride away from you?

Looks great, and they make a great pair! You could always try painting the Hugger Black to reduce its visual footprint.

That looks really good,I like the rear fender(hugger??). Is the yellow a factory
color or something from the automotive selection?
Again as my son would say" That's Really Sick"

Happy Riding

Well, now that it's lowered and the seat's modified, it's more suited for her size than mine (5'2" vs. 6'3".) It's a fun machine though, light and agile!

It's factory yellow, my paint shop had Finishmaster use their color scanner to match it. The hugger came black, when I test fitted it I guess it probably looked better that way, didn't stand out as much. I had the hugger painted along with the repaired rear body and side panels, thought it would look cool, but too much of a good thing. I wish it were a sleeker design, covers up too much of the rear wheel on the left side, and there's no exhaust on that side to pull the eyes away. I think it looks better without, will post another pic later.

I think the MIVV exhaust will lighten up the rear end visually as well, check it out on PJ's website: http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=210

Put a horizontal black stripe on that hugger to bust it up some. Other than that, SWEET!

Looks great!
On that hugger I would be tempted to draw a straight line from the top forward point to the top rearmost point and make everything below it black.

Gorgeous place for taking the pictures too, good job!

Thanks! I appreciate all the ideas on the chunky hugger, perhaps I will try taping off sections of it and using black on the lower section to make it seem lighter...if that makes any sense.

Ok, here's a couple more pics, this beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon seemed well suited to motorcycle art.

The lil' Hornet is shaping up quite well! Great work.
Looks great without the hugger. Much cleaner, lighter, and racier looking. But if you ride in the rain. . .

I'm huggerless. . .

Bought the hugger off eBay, the bike didn't come with one from the factory. Manufactured by a company called Powerbronze, good quality and bolted up perfectly, just not an aesthetically pleasing design.

I think that's what the eBay ad said, "Blobular rear hugger for Honda 599."
