Just bought a 919!

Hello,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I purchased a 2007 red 919 with 30k on the clock last weekend and am flying up tomorrow to pick it up and ride it home. I came from a FZ07 and sold it last year to beef up a down-payment for a house and have been looking for a replacement now that everything has settled. I rode my father in laws 919 last weekend and fell in love. Very torquey and nice broad power band and just felt so nimble in the twisties for what it is. I'm really used to the higher strung bikes that you need to push into higher RPMs to wring out power so this was an appreciated difference. And, there's something about how this one looks that just sets it apart from all the other popular nakeds out there.. Cant quite put my finger on it but it's just visually orgasmic.

Anyway, I'm a pretty serious modder so I always join up forums for my cars/bikes to get ideas and join in on discussions. The bike I bought comes with Yoshimura SS exhaust, PCIII, fender delete, and lowered handlebars with end mirrors. I have a short list of mods that I'll be getting soon, but still doing research on specific brands/components. I plan on doing a combo of spirited rides, track days, and commuting with it so quality means a lot to me. I'm not one to shy out on a good part because of $$$. Items my current high priority list include (looking for feedback/suggestion on any of these) :

-Frame sliders (I like T-Rex)
-LED turn indicators (Watsen?)
-adjustable rear set, passenger peg delete (still researching, but stumbled on Sato, I think it is?)
-depending on how the current handle bars feel, may replace or readjust
-suspension

Looking forward to learning all about this bike! Sorry for the long-winded intro. I'm somewhat of a chatter bug. Cheers!

Thanks! The seller took the ad down and I haven't saved the images. I'll have to take some pictures and post them when I see it tomorrow.

Bought the bike in Portland, OR and I live down in Reno, NV. A solid 500+ mile ride back, can't wait!

That's super clean looking, how much did you have to pay for it?

Mine's the same color but bone stock. I added a few dings to add some character

Thanks all!

I scooped it up for $2,400

It has some wear on it, but I'd expect any bike that has been ridden to. There are a ton of goodies on it that I would have put on myself, so I saved thousands there. Win win in my book! Nothing I can't to do to shine her up like new!

I do have a question for you guys who are more familiar with aftermarket parts. Can anyone identify these handlebars? Suburbans?

Looks like it to me... I had a pair on mine when I got it too. Ended up switching back to stock, and then switching to renthal mediums... If you like the more aggressive stance they are really nice bars.

how do you like the renthal mediums? The ULs were far too low for my preference and I like the stock setup but wouldn't mind a change (esp. of color! fugly stock chrome is fugly)

They're perfect for me. Very similar to the stock bars in rise and pullback, but with a different/better angle front to back. Much more comfortable/didn't feel like I was pinching my shoulder blades like with the stock ones.

I don't take those bars off, just because they are so damn ugly. Put a nice set of gold Renthal mediums on.
