I want a Buell HyperMotard

By now, a lot of you have heard/seen the news about the new Buell engine, and the all new bike that goes with it. When Eric gets around to building a HyperMotard, like the new Duc, and the KTM 990, a lot of us may be finally riding an American naked. Exciting times we live in.

Like you don't have enough bikes?

Well, I guess we can never really have too many bikes, eh?

HELLO! They finally dumped the Harley lump for a 1125cc Rotax built liq cooled v2. Probably make clost to 80 ft lbs torque, 125 horses. That Can Am 800cc v2 4 wheeler is supposed to be an absolute beast. Rotax also makes the Aprillia engines. Oh well, I guess I'll get mine cheap, supply and demand, you know.

There really isn't much better than riding a naked American.

My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.

Doe's that mean Rotax finally built an engine that doesn't pop a cylinder?

What Rotax engines are you referring too. Granted my experience with Rotax is limited to 2 stroke stuff (lots of em though) but they are awesome! Have heard good things about the mills they built for the Mille & Tuono too. Have ridden a Mille and was impressed. IMO Rotax has a great rep as an engine builder.

I have no personal experence with Rotax stuff. i'm pretty sure they make airplane engines. They also make the CanAm / Bombardia (sic?) 4 wheelers. They were good enough for John Deere to sell them under their name, the "Buck" series. If they're good enough for John Deere, Aprillia and airplanes, I'd give one a try. They will probably offer some sort of extended warranty for the doubtful.

At ant rate you know a Rotax is a quantum leap above the old antique Harley thing they were using. Makes you wonder what took so long.

Buell doesn't even make a Motard with the Rotax engine yet. But I bet they will. And when they do, I'm going to take a good long look at it.

More of a smart ass remark from old experiences.
We had a lot of engine failures wit the Rotax motors in Sea Doo Doo's.
They are great engines.Powerful. Just not reliable.
But that was a long time ago.
If Rotax is making the engine for Aprilia's motard,Once again, not good.
Example

I haven't been up on Rotax & how they are doing lately,or what they are even in.
Fill me in, it would be nice to know what I might get myself into.

Check the Aprilia Mille, Tuono, SXV, RXV, Caponord, Futura, et al. They are dynamite engines in the Aprilia form. I would be shocked if they turned out poor quality for the Buell.

If I have that correctly, A racer had a piston failure on a pre `06 bike. Aprillia has since made the piston heavier/stronger.
