I Want a 919!! :(

I'm soo glad I found this site!!
I've been searching for a naked/standard bike for a while and I was about to buy the new FZ1, but I've always been a diehard honda guy.
Anyways, after seeing all the cool stuff you guys do to yours and reading the reviews on the 919 posted here, I think I'm gonna hold off for one now.

Only problem is honda wants a small fortune for em down here in Houston; about $9300 OTD for the '06 model to be exact. Soo I decided to go ahead and wait to see if I could find a good used one.
Do you guys know what year came with the gloss black tank and black wheels? Anyways, Props on the site guys!

The '05 was the gloss black model. $9300? Good Lord. You need to do some calling around. If you really want a gloss black one surely there's a dealer somewhere in Texas that has a left over. If not then try dealers in Arkansas. Honda of Russellville or Sunrise Honda. Bought my '03 new from Honda of Russellville for $7000 and they haven't gone up much since then.

Just to warn you, the 05 also had the ugly mixed color engine cases. If that doesn't bother you, go for it. The other option is the matte black 03 model. Good luck finding one, the 919 is a rare beast.

Almost forgot: welcome aboard! Lots of 919 lovers here. We tend to creep out the other riders.

And don't forget the double meaning of "tank slapper." And leather seat such as my Corbin cut down on the chafing...

$9300? That's nuts. Even the notoriously high priced dealers here have them for $8200 out the door. If I was buying a new one it would be from Southern Honda . They qouted me something like $7300 out the door! It would be worth flying out here or having it shipped to save $2k!

Calll your local dealer and tell them you want an 05 model. They can do a dealer search and find one for you. They may not want to go to the trouble of getting it for you. If they aren't, they will probably tell you what dealer's still have 05's in stock. They can look by state so if you're willing to travel a little ways for a deal let them know.

I would look for you myself but the dealership I worked for last year finally updated their system access so I'm locked out. Damn!---wait a minute.

(10 minutes later) Just talked to a buddy at the dealership, there are no 05 models available at any dealer in Texas. Only one he found in the southeast is at Jim's Motorcycle Sales in Kingsport, TN. Sorry, man.

You could just do what I did... I ordered the titanium Sato exhaust and power commander for this bike before I even found one for sale. The great thing about the 919 is that the parts fit on every model year.

I ended up buying an '02 with 1000 miles on it for $7000 Canadian ($6300 US today) and picked it up the same day my exhaust showed up. Think positive!

Thanks for all the great info guys. I already did the dealer search thing for an '05 model and got the same results. Guess I'll have to wait for some shmuck to un-ass his 919 before I can get one. I really liked the way the '06 red model looked in person. I might just do some huntin' and haglin' to see if I can get a decent price on that one because it's riding weather down here in Texas and I don't want to miss out.

thanks again!

wow, those are some good prices.
It's funny because they are a powersport dealer and soo is the one that quoted me that price on the 919.
Too bad they don't ship their bikes or I'd be all over that '05.

If you are anywhere near Kansas City, there are two new on the showroom floor models here. I talked both dealerships down to 6700.00 out the door and then one of my friends decided to sell me his really cheap. Donnell's Honda has a silver 04 and Cameron Honda has the uranium green that everyone either loves or hates. They are both new and come with the one year warranty. Good luck, I just got back on my 919 after being run over three years ago.........I've missed it.

ugh... these prices are starting to make me queezy. I just picked up my glass black '05 leftover for $7900. The upside, it was exactly the bike I wanted and it was only 6 miles away. The fact that I may have paid a little too much for an 05 leftover (with a red 06 sitting right next to it being listed at full msrp) does not make me love my bike any less.

But I think I am angry at the little voice in my head that told me to jump on it. I guess I was just scared I would miss out on this bike and be forced to get red, which wasn't too appealing to me.

New 919

I just picked a new 2003 919 05/24/06 from metro powersports in Canton, MI (near Detroit) 6000 out the door. They still had a 2004 919 they quoted me 6784 OTD I know it's late to post this answer but I just joined the forum. Good luck. By the way I love the 919. My old bike (just sold) was a V65 Magna.

Just Got mine!

I'm in the club... bought a brand new 06 for $8400 out the door. And they threw in a couple of T-shirts to boot. It hasn't even been on the street yet as this shop doesn't allow test rides. So I tested out a couple different bikes at other shops and then bought close to home.

I'm in Temecula CA... about 60 miles north of San Diego. Looking forward to some fun rides!

Hey, ya can't moan about the price you paid. No matter what, someone is always gonna beat your price or say they beat your price. The only point is that you got your ride.

Doesn't the '06 have the same mismatched engine case colors too?

I think it looks sweet! In fact, I like the red on the '06 and I generally don't care for red as a auto/bike color.

Incidentally, I tipped over on the right side once and I sanded down and repainted the clutch cover round part on my '03 with Krylon Rust Tough Semi-Flat Black and it looks better than it did before IMO.

I think the new engine paint looks pretty close to the same as the Krylon Rust Tough Semi-Flat black. They just paint the entire engine clutch cover and the valve cover. I assume they also paint the alternator cover as well? I like it better with just the round part painted true.. but it doesn't look bad at all.

My 2 cents!

I do apologize if I offended anyone's bike. I love the black and the grey/gold/whatever on the 919 engine, I just wish they would use only one of the colors, not both. All black 919 motor would look pretty bada$$.

None taken, in my short time reading this forum I've noticed a somewhat irreverent tone prevails, so I thought I'd join in ... you know, i never even really noticed the engine colors in the showroom actually...
