No, the Rebel is a girly-man bike. Honda 919 is the choice of a mature, well-balanced rider...or a crazy person who just loves naked bikes that don't look like they were styled by a blind man who forgot the rest of the plastic after he covered the headlights.

The only FZ I would by is the completely naked one they get in Europe. The US FZ1 is hideous, with bad FI, and a weak midrange. Did I mention it's ugly? Oh, I almost forgot, the 919 is a Honda. I'll take big red over a Yammie any day.

This topic has been debated ad nauseum. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but you'll find that many on this board will probably not agree with you. I love my 919, and wouldn't give it up for anything (unless someone offered me the RC211V).

I honestly don't see how that thread proves much of anything other than they are 2 disticntly different bikes of which each has their own merits.

If you haven't noticed young man that this forum is geared towards all bikes no matter what you ride, not "my [email protected] is bigger than your [email protected]" or "my Daddy can beat up your Daddy" forums that many Squids seem to frequent. So go spank your monkey elsewhere and I will happily motor on with my "girlie man" bike.

919 Members--- Lets not fuel the fire or get into a pissing match like that "dead horse" FZ1 thread. We are waaay more civilized here for that.
Otherwise I just might have to send Desmo and wArDoG another 919 Hornet sticker.

async All riders are welcome here. It's not a sportbike site, or a chopper site - it's a riders site and all riders are welcome here. It's from diversity that we grow and live so this site is welcome to all riders.

Certainly we can all appreciate the differences in the rides we choose to own without firing shots across anyone's bow.

Ya know, perhaps I was too harsh. Knee-jerk reaction when someone calls my bike a "girlie man bike" is to flame them.

async is, of course, welcome to the naked forum. If you actually keep posting, then I'm impressed. Somehow the riffraff finds a way off this forum. Maybe it's bigdaa...

I'd still ride it. The tu tu keeps the road grime off your back. Plus, chicks dig the polka dots.

YAAAWWWNWNnnn... Wow, in the time it took to browse all that nonsense, I could have been out riding... I want my 10 minutes back!!

ps- that picture is hilarious! New desktop image over here... And I would ride it, the tutu might get in the way but all the punk rockers I hang with would give it a thumbs up for originality.

It is the #1 meeting place in the tri-state area. The place to be on Sunday mornings. 100's of bikes from cruisers to crotch rockets and everything in between. There are quite a few dairy regulars that ride up here from LI.

I don't think I've ever met a motorcycle I didn't like. The inidividual riders?????
That's another story. I was riding on my favorite 55mph mountain road, the one where I got the gracious 80 mph tik when he clocked me at 100 in the sweeper, and this FZ rider thought he'd blaze past me at 80. He tried to do it real sneaky but I saw him coming up on my left so I let him get sort of besides as I down shifted into third and just let that 10R motor stuff fumes into the dudes helmet. It was if he went into slow motion. I saw him in the rear view as I got low on the tank and leaned left into the turn at 118mph. What little glimpse I had of him was he straightened up. I kept the motor on the boil staying in 4th and above 10 grand until he was just a speck, and then slowed up a bit. Got it down to 60 and let him catch up. I was making my left from 154 on to 246 and he passed on the right and waved. I returned the wave. Ain't no thing. I did the same thing to a couple of SV650 riders while on my Superhawk. I registerd the same mph in that turn, but on my 10R, the speed is the real deal with my speedo healer. That time, one of the SV650 riders really rode that little gem hard and kept up excellent speed and form in the corner, unlike the FZ guy. We got to the same turn off and had the customary wave salute.

This post is borrowed from gsd2053 on the yamahafz1oa forum, I'm reposting it for your benefit:

The top ten reasons I can see the 919 beating a FZ1 is.....

#10 The FZ rider let you outa pity.

#9 The FZ was out of tune.

#8 The FZ was running on diesel.

#7 The FZ had sugar in the tank.

#6 The FZ had no teeth on the sprockets.

#5 The FZ clutch went out.

#4 The FZ rider had sugar in his tank.

#3 The FZ was stuck in one gear.

#2 The FZ rider thought he had to shift at 6000rpm.

And the number one reason a 919 beat the FZ1.

#1 All of the above combined together!

But of course I mean don't we all stare at our speedo while we are traveling in excess of 100mph while in a full tuck through a long sweeper

Damn! See what happens when I go study for a little while?
First of all, anyone who uses a review as "proof" of a bike's superiority shows that he is inexperienced and probably can't ride for sh#% anyway. That means I could probably smoke your precious FZ with my '85 shadow 500. Dropping the latest R1 motor into a bike may stir up some squid-talk but it doesn't make it bad-ass. The most important part of any bike is the ass in the seat.

Second, Long Island is a girly man's hometown. All the people that live there are "proof." Bronx Baby!

Third, async, what the hell are you doing on Hornet's nest anyway? At least this is a 919, I mean Naked forum. That one is bike specific.

Fourth, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE DAMNED THING YET! If you are looking for some sort of reassurance that you ordered the right bike, look elsewhere. Ride hard and contribute (and learn a few things) - that's what this site is all about.

BTW Mike, can't wait to move back home so I can join up with the MD crew and tear up some of my long-missed east coast twisties.

Async, not a good way to make friends on a new site that might actually want, but points for the instigation. I love a good brawl as much as anyone. Welcome to the site! We should have some fun.

Agreed on all counts, except for the reference to Long Island. We on the Island take offense to bashing of our beloved home!

Anyhow, instigation is fun! :P
