Last year there was a dedicated group here in Portland that executed the first Ride For Kids ever in this area. Unfortunately, the date was Oct 2 and the weather better suited to Ark racing than a charity ride. Still, we raised close to $20K and there were almost 150 bikes that rode through the most miserable 2 hour downpour to ever grace this neck of the NW.

Here's the pisser. The local leads didn't seem to work well with the Ride For Kids liaison. Why adults can't get their sh*t sown up tight enough to make something this good work I'll never know, but in the end the relationship was soured to the point the 2006 event was simply pulled from their calendar. Knuckleheads!

Ride For Kids is a great organization that generates a tremendous amount of $$ for he Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation with very little $$ going towards administration. I think it's American Honda's biggest charity and really a Gold Wing / cruiser event, bu if it comes to your area next year I would really hope that you'd rally your boys (and girls) to represent the sportbike community and support this worthy cause.

It looks like the 9er will get some good press. As well as the kids, CW, Sans and everyone who takes part. A great idea.

btw, that video posted of the 919 w/ Roland Sands is obviously associated with this effort and should not be metioned without including a request to help the kids...

I dont really like the design much either - I think my stocker looks better. But it is a 919 and it is a good cause so you cant go wrong. Speaking of rides for kids we got this one goin on next weekend down here in south florida http://www.toysinthesunrun.com/ . If any one is interested it is always a good turn out, all kinds of people to meet. I hopefully will see some other ninr's there.

Bad taste...

I'm so glad they are using the 919, but that custom is just plain fugly. Yikes!!! The stock look is much more attractive. Could buy two 919s at that cost.

Anyone seen the finished project yet?

I know they just last week unveiled it at the Long Beach IMS show and it was then going to CW for pics before attending more IMS shows.

I wonder if I can see it in Cleveland? Pics anybody?

It has few cool features. Just strip off the ones you like and put them on your own 919.

Give me a stock 919 with those fancy wheels and I would like that best.

It's hard to improve on perfection.
