HOMEMADE (SORTA) FRAME SLIDERS

I ordered a 12 inch, 1 3/4 diameter piece of round stock (delrin) from mcmaster carr and had a guy at work machine them ..Each one is "5 3/4 long and have steel insert bushings ..i also ordered a 4ft piece of 8.8 grade all thread to go thru the frame..i did not like the fact the ones off the internet were different lengths side to side and not long enuff..i now delrin is not the best but hopefully it protects the new black tank i have and the Oberon bar end mirrors i just got from ilovheros (THANKS AGAIN)

Those turned out really good! Isn't delrin the same material the aftermarket sliders are made from? Those should work great.

I'll take a pair, they'll be here before Friday, right?

Where did you get the 8.8 threaded rod?

Any chance you have a link to that threaded rod? I looked on McMaster's website and couldn't find any grade 8.8 10mm threaded rod. I'm thinking my search-fu is off today because I'm sick.

So, Wicked, might you possibly, hopefully, be thinking about manufacturing a few sets of these and making them available for sale to your WT pals? Seriously, if the price is competitive, you might have a small but loyal marketplace ready and waiting. I'd be interested...

on my 07 you cant use the threaded rod across the motormounts.. cause there is a piece sticking out of the block that blocks the way....

did the block change between 02-03 and 07?

Great job! Looks like the motovation set.

I crashed last month and took out my right slider. I ordered another set from motovation and tried using both the long pieces. Looked awkward, so I went back to the original intended short and long setup.

Your thread will be saving me lots of money. If I ever crash again, I will rebuild the sliders as a DIY project. Thanks for the part numbers!

There have been no changes to the motor (at least in the area you're talking about) for the entire model run.
The sliders should not be mounted to the engine: Link showing why not
What wicked919 is talking about is mounting them to the frame just ahead of the engine mounts. The holes will have to be opened up to 10mm to clear the rod, but there's plenty of meat there. Link showing where to install them, but with a rod instead of bolts.

Rick, I'd seriously be interested in hearing how much you think the sliders would cost to purchase. You wouldn't even need to include the threaded rod if it's too much trouble, as those could just be purchased locally. That would certainly save on shipping costs.

Any guesses?
