Help me pick!

Help me decide between an Erion system or a Staintune system. I'm sure a few will say "Just get the Sato's!" Well, I don't want what everyone has.

So, if anyone has some good info on either set please speak up, or just comment on what looks best. Here I demo my awsome computer skills using pictures of my bike. Price doesn't matter. I want the "right" pipe.

I like the Staintune's because they come with a quiet incert I can take in and out. They also have the best polish in the business and no tacky sign on them.

I like the Erions because I know I'll get 5hp out of it and it's cheaper. I just don't know how well the black will look on my bike.

I also don't intend on getting a PC3

I'd get the PC3 first, though...

Without any sound bites to back my decision i don't like the black erion on the cherry bike as much as the staintune.

I'd get the PC3 then Stato's

If you want opinion, neither look good. It needs something with a flat finish or carbon fiber without the huge name stamp on the side like the E R I O N R A C I N G !!

If money doesn't matter and you want something good that looks nice. Try Akrapovic and then remove the sticker.

Neither look perfect on the bike........

But I voted Staintune. I had one on my VFR, the finest quality I had ever seen. Sounded awesome.

I agree with most of the post... the SATOs look better than either of the above choices. But do what you must. Everyone has their own taste... I voted for the Erions out of the two.

are we sure that the sizing is correct seeing as how they are cut-n-paste. I agree that neither look great, but again, both look oversized to me... so i think the real ones will look better.

Maybe, just maybe, the majority is running Satos because they are the best:

Quality

Looks

Performance

Sound

The badges aren't that obnoxious

And if you order now, there's a sweet bonus called a PC3 that with a Sato map will make smile for thousands of miles.

It's a fool who looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart.

No experience with Erions here, but the Staintunes are really big in the sport touring market where I came from. And there are thousands of them on the big ST's. Everyone loves the quality, sound, fit, and finish. I've never heard a single bad word about Staintunes.

Between the two I'd pick the Staintunes because of the look. I never have liked badges/logos on an exhaust system, especially the larger ones plastered down the side.

Thanks for the input guys. It looks like the Staintune pipes are the way to go. (somewhere in the world LDH started to cry) I'll also have the option of getting the fatty Y pipe later and a PC3 if need be. I like how the throttle response is. My EX500 was way more jumpy than my 919 in first gear so this is nice. If the PC won't give me more hp then I say leave it alone.

Now I need to find a good stainless polish. Anyone know of a good brand?

Don't think too much about this... there is no "right" answer. The bike is a toy, the power added by the pipe is miniscule. The only purpose of the pipe is to make you smile when you crack open the throttle or to make the bike look like you want it to. It is a mostly emotional purchase so you're the only one that can decide if it is worth it.

What you need is pictures and soundfiles of the options so you can see what grabs you the most.

I've heard the Erion but not the Staintune. So if anyone has these or knows where to find a file I would appreciate it.

From what people tell me, the Staintunes have a deep nice sound. For $800 they had better be :-)

I've had an Erion on my 929 for the last 2 years and 10k miles. It still looks like the day I put it on. Good quality.

Get the PCIII it's great. It comes with an accelerator pump feature that improves ridability a ton.

Steve - I just read over on ratdog's project919 site that Staintunes also offer a fatter Y-pipe for increased flow. Could be worth looking into...

Staintune is the pick of the two, I don't think the black erion goes with the bike. If I were you I would go down the Akra titanium road ( Hang on, I did ) there are pictures and a recording on the nest !!!!

I've seen your video and they look and sound good. My Staintunes are ordered and I'm told they will be at my house by the middle of next week.

Stai tuned for more clips and pictures.

iirc zenbiker tried the satos and then switched to staintunes....he was happier after the switch

but then again, he sold his 919 and purchased an 06 fz1....and now he's busy shopping PC3's, full system, airbox mods, ivan whoosiwhatitz that fixes the butterfly valve or whatever that chokes the fizzie out on partial throttle...anyways some $1200+ in mods (but he will have 140+ to the wheel when he's done methinks)

anyways...pretty sure zen did satos, then staintunes and was pleased w/ the change
