Header coatings

Hey guys.. Other than the price difference, is it better to powder coat headers or use the high temp spray paint? Do they both last about the same amount of time before needing to be redone, or does one last longer than the other?

I have a 900rr header that is already black but has a bunch of nicks and scratches in the factory black finish. Just trying to weigh out options

Thanks!

I don't think powdercoat will last on high temp devices like headers. You might have a ceramic coating.

Ceramic is MUCH more durable than any paint, but it will still chip with rocks and road debris, but it cleans up VERY easily.

I got mine ceramic coated for about $150. It does have some chips and what not 4k miles later, but they still look really good.

I'm considering just wrapping mine in black exhaust wrap. But I do have about a half mile of gravel I have to go down to get to my house and worried about all the crevices filling up with dirt.

2007 Honda 919.
Used to be Red, now it's Green. Open for name suggestions.

Too bad you cant just paint them with that bed-liner stuff.... That way, as the miles pile up, it all just blends in.

The ceramic also hardens with time so if you ride it really hard right after getting it down, it should harden up nicely and be almost as hard as powder coating.
