GSXR damper on 919

Anybody tried this mod?

http://www.fireblades.org/forums/hon...ng-damper.html

I picked up similar damper for my bike, but wondering if I really am ready to start drilling onto my bike or not ... I'm not the most skilled person around the power tools ...

I guess having one couldn't hurt, but I've never felt like I needed one.

Do you frequently drive over 110mph?

Not to sound like a squid, but yes as a matter of fact I do. We have long very straight stretches of roads around here which I know very well. Generally 90-110, sometimes a little further North.

There's alot of people around here with alot more experience with track days and various bikes, but I have been on different bikes where I did feel one was needed and others I guess are inherently designed better where they don't really need them.

i've noticed lately that at 120 or 130 and up the front end starts to weave a bit. so i thought to myself. maybe it's the stretch of road, maybe my steering head is a little loose? or maybe i should look into a damper?

I top out my bike regularly.
The first turn going up the back side of Ortega Hwy (Little road near my neck of the woods) is a posted, 50mph, I think. could be lower.
well... I usually am at 105-115 mph (depending on my mood) & my bike is as stable as can be.
Next set of turns (35 posted) I'm at 80-90mph. still, no hint of head shake.
First straight, 125-130 mph, carrying the front slightly out of a mild left, still, no hint of needing a stabilizer.
Tires, tire pressure, suspension set up, & body position will cure a lot more than a stabilizer can compensate for on a 919.
But...then again, it could just be me.

Cool mod but there is no need for a damper on the 919.

Going stupid fast over smooth road isn't going to upset it. I picked up the front on hard acceleration, hitting rough patches or going over a crest and often only get a mild head shake. Nothing compared to my RC51 or 06 r6 - those I get a full tank slapper without a damper or with the damper set to low.

Unlike some people here I don't peg people as X,Y or Z based upon little thinkgs like how fast/slow they drive. Common sense and controlled risk can be implemented at any speed.

I was just asking because like most, I only see a need for greater stability when well over 100mph. Maybe Wisconsin roads aren't as nice as those some of these other guys get to ride...
