There is a grounding point on the left side of the frame under neath the tank. You can get to it by tilting the tank up and using a block of wood or foam ar something to hold it up.

What color is the wire, and where is it exactly? There is a multi wire ground on the right side of the frame near the back of the tank. The grounds are colored Green, Green / Pink, and Green / Black, so any other color has a different function and should not be arbitrarily grounded.

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

Silver?

There are no electrical wires color coded Silver -- tilt up the tank to see where it comes from. What you are probably seeing is the vinyl covered cable attached to the frame and fuel tank that limits how far the tank can be tilted up. In this case it may have come loose at one end, especially if the tank was removed for some reason. My '02 doesn't have this, but it had been repainted before I bought it used and the cable may have been left off. I've heard it mentioned on this forum. Anybody else have this?
