greetings and salutations

Bought an '5 919, shiny black, 2 weeks ago, already put 400+ miles on it. Been riding since I was 15, including BMWs, and this is the best little bike I've ever ridden.

The only two things I don't like are - the grips are cheap, and too hard. Any recommendations? I saw some reasonably looking ones on JCWhitney, but if anyone has any suggestions. I bought some on ebay, paid for them, they never arrived, and the seller says i got them, when ... in fact... i DIDN'T. oh, well, i didn't need that $19.47 anyway. word to the wise - don't buy from cycleacc on ebay.

Same thing re mirrors - boy, do they SUCK. I can't see directly behind me, which is scary, especially riding in New York City. Oi. Suggestions?

Nice forum yous guys have going here, btw...

Welcome! The 919 is a really fun bike to ride. You will LOVE her! I've used Spider grips with great success. Check them out. Mirrors, well I went with Napoleon and have been happy. I'm sure you will get lots of good ideas here! Ride safe!

Welcome and enjoy the bike. And if you think the 9er mirrors suck, never ever buy a Superhawk.

Welcome aboard... The top of the line bar end mirrors are made by CRG, a little pricy but well worth the money. Except no subsitutes... They have been showing up on eBay lately at good price. You can see what they look like if to click on my signature Mike's bikes and then go to the 919 page. As far as grips go, check out the superbike grips, they have a nice supple feel to them.

I see you are from Brooklyn, you should think about heading up to Marcus Dairy in Danbury, CT on Sunday mornings. It's the best gathering place in the tri-state area for motorcycles.
