Great Ride in QLD Australia- Pic Heavy

I Just got my first digital camera and thought I'd try my hand at my first Ride Report.

I took my son for a ride to a place called "Oreillys" near Canungra in South Eastern QLD on yesterday. A great ride, 30 Kilometres of non stop hairpin twisties, excellent for feathering the edges of my tyres. It starts in a low lying valley, cattle country which includes lots of cow poo to dodge on the road, and some tricky cattle grids nicely placed as your entering corners (not good). The road then gets really twisty as it climbs up into the mountains of Lamington National Park. Beautiful mountain scenery, and it climbs up a long way. The road gets into lots of 1 lane sections which are a little hairy, especially when a guy on an adventure bike came around a corner on our side, and nearly high sided as he locked up his back brakes. I proceded to give the finger and a "Whoa, DUDE!!!". The road then goes through a beautiful rainforest section for about 10 kilometres, really dark and lush green.
At the end of the road is Oreillys Rainforest Retreat. A hotel and touristy kinda joint, with beautiful bushwalks, wild bird feeding cafes and ecetera.
Except for the occasional cage on the road, I loved it, great for working the bike really hard.

I'd really recommend it for a good day trip from Brisbane, and If any of you yanks are ever here, your welcome to lend the 9'er to take her for a spin up there!

Very nice pics! Bike looks great. Love the windscreen emblem. Your son looks just like you. What could be better than spending a beautiful day with your son and your bike.

Nice pics Rockdog. Your son takes a good pic of you too!
Nice road for scratching as well. Wish I lived closer than 2500 klicks.

Beautiful pictures of a small portion of Australia's countryside. A group of my family members just returned from 22 days in Australia and they can't wait to go back, just loved everything about it. Nice bike too!

Nice one Rockdog. I hardly recognised your bike. Now be honest - you polished it up before taking the pics, didn't you?

Hi Everyone,
Thanks heaps for the kind words! :001_smile:It is a beautiful part of the world most definitely.
Maryland Mike, I think motorcycling is a great thing to share with your family. My son loves it. It was one of the main reasons I bought my bike was pillion comfort for my son. He's the cool dude at school getting picked up on the bike! Glad you liked the windscreen sticker, I gotta spread my love of Iron Maiden around!

Piston, Sbeau, Barton, Ripper, Sike, ForcedFreak, and anyone else I've missed, Thanx again for the kind words!

and Ceejay.... The bike is a little dirty! Weve had that much rain lately up here, I wash her, polish and the next day she's dirty again. And that ride especially, the cow poo on my headers... YUKK!!

MTJSR. I'm glad your family enjoyed it over here. Its a great country to visit. I've been lucky to see a good deal of it touring with bands over the years, and still have heaps more to go. I'd love to see more of your country one day as well (on a bike of course!)

Oh yeah Pistn, I rode a Suzuki TS185 ag bike from Cairns to Phillip Island on my learners many moons ago, that was a hard slog! Filling up every 170 kays, 2stroke oil every 600, and top speed of 105. I reckon 2500 klix would be sweet on the 9'er (with a sheepskin seat cover that is). Heading through your way would be hard coz of all the wineries on the way, Id lose my licence!
