Got the Akrapovic exhaust installed today!

First let me say thank you to Ryan (rmland)for the sweet deal on the Akrapovic exhaust. I paid for them Friday, he shipped on Saturday and I received them today!!! That is good service.... From Portland Oregon to Ft. Wayne Indiana in that short of a time.

Anyway, you all asked to see pics of it installed. Well, here you go!

Small vid so you can hear it.

Click on the pics to see a high res version.

These took all of 5 minutes to install. Got to love that!

If that would have been my helmet, it would have fallen down. Put a nice chip in the paint, flipped over to the visor and than severely scratched it.

Pipes look good though, think my Sato's sound better though

Yea, I should have taken it off there first. Forgot... Oh well, it didn't fall. I want a different one anyway. Suppose I should sell this one before I do drop it and it aint worth chit!

I predict that some of our members will give you grief for "failing to remove the informative stickers that Honda deemed necessary to ensure your riding pleasure and safety." It's in some rule book somewhere. I'm sure they'll be along shortly... Be forewarned!

Just a thought, what would the cans look like without the shields. Most of us run the Satos without shields. It shows off the beautiful welds + there is no problem with getting burned.

I want pipes. I don't even really care what kind since most look better than stock. Always been afraid of paying $700 or whatever silly price they charge for 9er cans, installing them and finding out they are obnoxiously loud. It happened to me on my last bike. Got a new full system and couldn't stand it. I like the stock sound, maybe a little louder and rumblier. Guess I'm screwed.

Dammit, in my world there would be a store that you could go to and try on new exhausts.

BTW, those look great and sound pretty decent.

Look in you-tube, there's quite a few sound clips of different exhausts on the 919.

If you just want a touch more tone, with the option of making it louder when wanted as well you should look into the Yoshimeras. They have a removable baffle, supposed to be fairly quiet with it in and pretty deep with it out.

And there's really no reason to spend more than 400-500.00. Just keep an eye out on here and be able to make up your mind quickly or keep an eye on ebay. I picked up a new set of Sato Carbons, w/shipping they were less than 450.00.

There mounts for the Heat Shield are welded on so it would look unfinished. I was going to do that but...

Exhaust store!!! that is a good Idea, kind of like a Burger King Drive thru, "yes, I would like to try the #7 Sato, #4 Yosh and the #2 Akro's please! Oh and hold the quiet cores on all of them also!"

The one thing i did notice is that these are not that loud until you get on it. However, for some reason it is 10X's louder with a helmet on???? I'm having trouble understanding that???

Yes, I wear a lid. Just in the neighborhood I was checking to see how loud it was and noticed it wasn't nearly as loud with out the helmet?

Stickers! Waaaaaaaaaa my eyes are burning!!!!

I just don't understand how someone can spend so much money to beautify their bike but leave those ugly stickers on their bike! Boggles the mind!

Takes five minutes. I'll even go to your house and take them off for you! For the love of God!

Nice pipes

Louder with a helmet one? Yes, no doubt. I think ear plugs are absolutely essential safty equipment. With my Satos, I don't think I could ride without plugs.

It was always planned, but with work, the constant sex with the wife and the 4 kids I was having trouble finding the time. Oh well, its done now.

919's are fuel injected dude. Just slap the exhaust on & go!
You can fine tune it with a Power Commander but it's widely accepted that it is not necessary.

so there is no fine tuning necessary for the engine no matter what exaust u use? does it automatically adjust itself?

A. we need to meet up and ride. But I'm outta town on weekends so weeknights it has to be and I have to get new tires. See my Shinko post and you will understand.

2. How much will you sell your stock exhaust shields for. I have a project planned and i can't ride until I get my new tires.

Thirdly. I'm jealous and wish I could afford after market Pipes.

4d. I thought that kid stuff was even illegal here in Indiana.
