Goodbye V-Max, hello 919

I test rode the 919 today and did the deed.

1st dealer had a 2005 trade in with only 125 miles for $7000, but would only give me $5200 for the Max.

Second dealer had a new 2006- I got it for $7800 out the door with $6200 for the Max. New bike for less $. It pays to shop around.

After 75 miles I can say the 919 is an awesome bike- not quite the beast the V-Max was, but feels much lighter and handles 100x better. And for the moment, I'm enjoying the quiet- the Max was LOUD with those Supertrapps!

By "handling better" I mean in every respect, high and low speed. The Max was a blast in a straight line, but it was a pig otherwise.

I think after you appreciate the quality of a Honda you won't go back. At least that's how I see it.

hard to pick on the v-max for poor quality though. I bleed honda red but the v-max is a tough customer.

Then you'll love the all new Max. It's so cool. Have you seen a pic? Just google it.

Should be interesting to see how much the actual bike looks like the prototype Max.

Went for a nice 75 mile ride on the 919 today. Then took the Harley out, first time since getting the 919. Compared to the Max the Harley is heavy, sluggish and handles poorly (but is sure is pretty!). Compared to the 919 its like driving a dump truck.

I think its time to sell it. Can't say I ever got into the Harley "lifestyle" anyway.
