Question Gas door sticks? Anyone have this problem of fix for it?

I've had plenty of bikes and this never has been a problem before but, that darn gas door sticks if it's closed long enough for one tank of gas to run through it. I cant tell where it's sticking and I've loosened it and tried to realign it.
So now I fiddle with it to get it opening and closing everytime befor eI ride to make sure I dont have trouble at the gas station. Once it's broekn loose it's fine for the day.
Anyone had this problem? Is there a spot or part to lube that generally goes bad.?
I hate to have a stupid problem like this.

Thanks. I mentioned in my first post that I tried the realignment trick and it's still not right. I'll try it again. I've got plently of white lithium sprayed in it too.

I was going to recommend the silicone spray, that worked for me, but if you've sprayed it and re-aligned it and it still doesn't work I can only suggest trying one of the billet keyless caps. I just got one and love it.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and I've occasionally had this problem on mine ever since I bought it. My gas cap looked like it was centered and I never dropped the bike so I'm pretty sure it wasn't tweaked. Oh and I lubed the hinge too. I unbolted your gas cap and unclamped it with the key. I looked at the front steel section right below the rubber seal and it had some rub marks from the gas tank. I filed that section down a just a little bit and cleaned it off. Now the gas cap opens every time. I'd check that out.

Some people disagree with this, but it worked for me. WD-40 down the keyhole and a little on both dogears that retract when the key is turned. Solved my problem.

I noticed mine would stick if the bike was left in direct hot Sun light for an hour. Like it has close clearance and it swells up when hot. Doesn't seem to stick when I use my tank bag. Also put a shot of Champion areo spray lube in key hole.

Wait? You mean you have to put gas in these things??? Boy that really explains a lot, I was starting to wonder what the big deal was buying a Motorcycle just to push it around??? I think I'll try adding some fuel, that is if my cap opens!

Haha, just trying to be funny!!! I noticed that if you push down on the cap as you release the lock it will open right up.
