Front rotor replacement

Hi all,

I've started feeling the typical signs of rotor warpage on my 02 919 and just measured the runout on both front rotors. The left side is within spec and the right side is 50% over spec (so .0018 in versus max stock spec of .0012 in).

I've never had to replace rotors on a bike and frankly I'm shocked at the prices for new OEM or aftermarket compared to car rotors. I've been looking at finding a used set of rotors but all dreams were shot when I cross referenced the part numbers on ronayers.com and got just 02-07 919's.

Is the 919 front rotor unique to this bike or is there another bike I can get rotors from? Also, because I only need one rotor, would it be OK to replace just one if the replacement is used and within spec?

Thanks for your help!

-Daniel

Unfortunately, the 919's rotors are a hybrid of 296mm outer diameter of the earlier CBR rotors and 93mm carrier register / 110mm bolt circle of the later CBR's. It's probably due to using an existing later wheel and earlier forks, then coming up with a new rotor that blended the two together. I'm doing an Ebay search to see if there is another model that uses this combination, but don't have much hope that I'll find anything. Bummer.
Let you know if I come up with anything.

Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

Thanks for the reply, Rob. I figured I was out of luck. I guess due to the weather I can just keep my eyes peeled for a used set of 919 rotors or one rotor. I did notice on some parts site (kneedraggers maybe?) that the VTX1800 was listed under the same fitment of EBC pro-lite rotors. Not sure if that is correct or even helpful.

Plan B: Post in the Wanted to Buy forum. One of our members might have a pair for sale.

I've got a set. I like the idea of keeping them but I also owe money to Tony Soprano....

I might sell them.

What are they worth?

Posted a WTB in that forum. Got several things to trade as well.

Jeff, not sure what they are worth, but I hope to spend under a $100 for a used pair or <$50 for a good used single.
