Finally painting

Wifey concoted the plan to have everyone give me cash for my bday to fund my goal of painting the 9'er. Origianl owner rattled canned the tank and it shows every bit of gas spillage, plus I have a belly pan that is another shade of matte black, so the whole thing is a bit unmatched. So I am thinking of three schemes and wanted to know your thoughts. I want to stay in this color wheel:

1. Gloss black with white stripe on tank and rear fender, black front fender and belly pan.
2. Gloss white with either flat black stripe (doubt it as it is hard to clean and not "rub" to shiny) or gloss black stripe, with black fender and black belly pan.
3. Super dark charcoal gray with sparkly fleck, black strip on rear tail and tank, charcoal gray front fender and charcoal belly pan. -This could be reversed too, with gloss black as the primary color and charcoal as the stripe.

I am leaning towards one thick stripe with two pin stripes on either side, over two stripes.

Thoughts? I need to make a decision quick before the weather is consistently warm.

i think a gloss black bike with matte racing stripes would look great. Thats what I'm trying to get my friend to do to his Viper. Of your 3 I choose number 3.

I like white but I would make a 2B option - white with white fender and white belly pan... Of your three choices I'd pick 3A - charcoal with black stripe.

I agree with BBB2... White with charcoal stripe, but I wouldn't go with a darker gloss white... You don't want your bike to glow...

After seeing Helimech's white, I'm tempted to say something along the lines of Option 2. Doing the hugger in white may be too much, so match that color with whatever color you do the stripes in.

And then do some Vinyl lettering ("Honda" or "Hornet") in white as well on top of that color on the belly pan; I'm doing something similar, but with black and red.

That is what I want to do in red on my belly pan. At least that's where I'm leaning. Anyone do custom vinyl?

I can have that made for you no problem. I've had all my decals custom made. my decal guy already has that in his computer. 1 color, one color with a different color outline? How tall do you want the letters? I'd guess 2" tall letters with outline would run about $15 each. Let me know.

Don't go white it's been played out......

Most my friends thought I was crazy painting my bike white, I kept telling them to wait and see the finished product. Now they love all love it!

Honestly I think a flat/matte white would look pretty slick, another thing to take into consideration is the color of the motor, and the color of your accent pieces OEM silver or powdercoated black etc. Those can make or break a color choice.

Awesome! Let me go home and make some measurements on the belly pan, I figure out what size I need and send you the dimensions.

I'll need one for each side, I'm thinking. Any chance he can match the '07 Red? or does he just have a standard Honda Red?

Thanks for the input...

I am leaning towards option 3b, mainly because with white, I would want some carbon fiber accents/wrap, but just dont have the coin to do it, nor do i want to powder coat anything.

Dare I add the fourth option?

4. Red, with white racing stripe.

I love this combo, but didnt want to do it since I dream of owning this color combo on a Duc one day. Not sure how it would look on a 9'er, wish I was well versed in photo-shop.

There is one on here somewhere in bright red with an offset white stripe. Looks pretty trick.

I believe it's just red. I could ask but as far as I know there are no shades just colors.

Thanks! I agree! LOL! I didn't like the look of the bike with the grab handle so I removed it and just had a couple pieces of electrical tape covering the holes for about a year! I found a cheap beat up rear cowl on ebay and had a friend with a body shop fix the cracks and fill in the grab bar holes and sand everything smooth. I sent it off to WT member 3dcycle for paint. https://www.wristtwisters.com/forums/...les-25930.html

If you're going to do it, do it before you paint!

Charcoal. Because it is different and will look the horn.

Or British racing green with a white, silver or gold stripe.

Hey I saw your feedback on your 16/44 setup...Im learning now 15/45 is a little too much down low and not enough up top. I just ran out of options when was ordering from cycle gear here, so probably going with factory 16/43 or maybe even 16/44 if it checks out.
