...hello RC-51! I guess I've been more of a lurker here than a poster... Anywho, I made the decision to sell my '04 9er to buy something...more on the sports side I guess is the way to put it. After much debate, I sold it this past Sunday. I always loved the RC-51's and found a really clean one, so I jumped at the opportunity today. It's an '03 w/11k in really good shape, all stock except sprockets. I love the power it has....not as much as a new liter bike, but I'm not looking to go 180mph anyways.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank everyone here for all the helpful posts for the 9er, she will be missed. I can post pictures of the new ride if anyone is interested.
Everyone loves the RC! Well, here we go with those assumptions again and we know where they lead. I can vouch for myself though, and I'd do the same thing you did if I wanted to make a visit to my credit union.

I sold my sexy Ducati 748 last week. Hated to let go of a classic iconic Italian sportbike. The buyer wanted it so bad, he gave me more than I asked because I wanted to back out of selling. Sportbikes come and go for me. The 9er will never be sold. In fact, it's the first bike I held on to for more than a year! As the saying goes. . ."It does everything so well." (although not perfect)
Phob's comments on the 80 mph rule also applies to 929s. In my opinion, the RC, even more so. The RC I rode needed suspention work badly. They sound so good and look so tuff, I want badly to love em, but....
soooooo. .. compaired to the 919 how do you like the rc51??
power wise?? handling?? general allaround??
It's a completely different bike all around. It was built with the track in mind whereas the 919 is a standard streetbike. It's no lightweight like recent liter bikes, but it handles great and is very stable. The suspension is a vast improvement over the 919 IMO, as it should be. The engine, being a twin, is not nearly as smooth feeling as the 919. Not to say the power delivery isn't smooth or linear (because it is), it's just a v-twin, so it's different. It has alot of torque and sounds amazing (especially with the new pipes). Compared to the 919 power wise, the RC is more powerful, though the 9er is no slug. The power band is defnitely different (note that I'm also not running stock sprockets). Though the RC has good power throughout the powerband, the party really gets started above 5k or so and really doesn't like to be below 3k RPM. The one area where the 919 is better than the RC is at slow speeds and low RPM's (<3k and <25-30mph), you have to use the clutch alot with the RC or it tends to get finicky, whereas the 9er is just uber smooth. Do I miss the 9er? Yeah, a little bit. It was such a smooth street bike.
The rear seat is stock Honda. You can also use the stock seat cover if you wish.
Yes, I am currently in sunny Arizona. Though the weather is gorgeous now, the summers here suck. Oh well, I'm moving pretty soon anyways....
yeah i am in south florida.. i have that whole nice hot/warm weather problem also... and summer would suck but i live less than a mile from the beach and we always have a breeze.... sometimes the breeze is 150 mph ... but its a breeze...lol
