Engine number on the Honda 919

So I'm getting around to transferring the title into my name... Due to some unfortunate circumstances I had to transfer the title into my Dad's name to avoid loosing it in a messy divorce.

When we transferred the title into his name we wrote down what we thought was the engine number and we got the title... now today I go into the DMV and they are being sticklers about the number... but I can't find it.

Can anyone help me out? I hate dealing with the DMV and I really only want to make one more trip.

Both of my engines have a hand engraved serial number in the same spot. That's gotta be it.

ariannasdaddy hit it on the head. I had to do a title transfer and all the title calls out for is a 'Engine #'. When I transferred the title into my dad's name we used a number hand etched into the block which was 5 digits. When I went to the DMV today, I used the same number and they wouldn't let me do a title transfer. They were looking for a 12 digit number that starts with SC.

Case closed. Thanks for the help.

edit:

This is the number I tried to use as the Engine number but the DMV didn't buy it:

I use the windows snipping tool, if you can see it on the screen it will copy it. After I saw your post and looked in the manual, I had to go out an look at my bike. As many times as I have adjusted my clutch cable, I have never noticed that plate. Good find! I learned something today.
