ebay vs. Carbon Fiber

I am looking into purchasing some CF pieces for my bike but came across some really crappy CF in my last purchase off ebay.

I am currently looking into buying a CF front fender. Anybody heard of this guy or seen his work first hand?

Caveat Emptor, my friend...

What was so bad with the last CF item?

It was from Phillips Lockheart. It was a CF tank pad. When I held it on the bike, it was not symmetrical with the tank and the CF was very loosely threaded along with chips around the edges where it was cut.

What is this about Caveat Emptor?

...Its latin for "Let the buyer beware", but the actual meaning is that the buyer needs to be cautious and alert to the possibility of being cheated. Check the bonafides of the sellers you deal with if you can, and ask your questions before money changes hands. do what you need to do to feel confident that you are getting a fair deal.

The seller wouldn't let you exchange or return it?

When I emailed him, he apologized and gave a full refund and even let me keep the part.

He had great reviews and the brand was supposedly top of the line. It must of just been a reject in the warehouse that I got.

I just don't want to have to go through the hassle. If anybody has a trusted CF dealer they go through, I would rather pay a little extra, then worry if it is going to be up to speck for me.

There is a guy who's a member here that makes custom CF stuff...I don't know what all he makes, but the pics of his examples are nice. I plan to get him to make me a couple things in the future. His name is Mark, and he goes by mgrn here, if you want to send him a PM.

His website is: Carbonpartz
