drewvirbrators<$10

i recently installed my new Tharbars(kudos rob excellent work) and had been thinking about the vibranators but $70???

so i made my own.
go to hardware store for the parts you'll need.

--2 1/4-20x4" or 6mm x 100mm flat head allen or whatever you think will look best
--13/64" drill bit
--1/4-20 or 6mm x 1.5 tap
--2 5/16 washers
--2 1/4" flat washers
--2 l/washers for 1/4 or 6mm
--4" piece fuel line to fit inside the bar(i used 3/8" but it was a little small so i put a small piece of 2 way tape stretched tight which helps to keep it from spinning, more on that later)

now ref. the attached image.

-remove your bar ends and the inserts(how to in helpful topics)

you will need #7 and #8 set the rest aside

take #7 and drill the hole about 1" deeper then tap

assemble in this order

bar end with screw,1" piece of fuel line,5/16 flat washer, lockwasher, part #7.
insert in bar and tighten(a cordless drill helps here)
what you end up with is pic#2
the end of the internal weight doesnt touch the id of the bar so it does the same as the vibranator
this works way better than i hoped it would and knocks out 99% of the vibs that i had in all the bars i've tried

the 2 way tape helps the fuelline from spinning while you tighten the screw.

note to above the fuel line should be cut accordingly so the bolt will tighten up with out bottoming in the weight.

i recommend ya give it a try before spending big $$$

I recommend you amend your post so as not to be sued. That name is probably at least trade-marked, and that item might be patented. Just saying....

sorry brian,
i missed that part of your post

i powder coated the cross bar "chrome smoke" and polished the handle portions. they are great bars with nearly unlimited adjustments.
it will take you a good bit longer to swap than conventional bars because of all the possabilities available to you but i love them, they're perfect for me and with the "drewvirbrators"(haha) there's almost no vibes. there's a mild vibe in 6th at 2700-2800 rpm but it's nowhere near before. i use to be able to do "the stranger" after 30-45 mins. now i need to find some strange.

excellent job dude.
I noticed you could use a break fluid change. Pic 5 shows it to be pretty brownish / dark when dot 4 is almost clear like water

I LOVE the idea and functionality behind the tharbars but something just looks wrong about them. Maybe its the whole get used to a new idea thing.

Awesome write-up I was just about to buy vibranators, but then found this thread. I will give this a try seems like it will do the trick just fine. I nominate this to be added to the helpful topics.

I like the frugal approach as well as the ingenuity.
I have a suggestion for you, hoping it will help you with the TradeMarking potential.

Your word "vibranators" is suggestive of causing or creating vibration.
Your design does the opposite.

How about VibraNOators instead ? (or VibeNOators)
A bit of a play on words as you can see.
And I want nary a cent from whatever accrues for you !

When the VibNOator is put into the end of the handlebar, riding is a much more pleasureable experience.
Why would anyone take exception to that ?
And it's not as though seat buzz comes from a bar vibe.
What, pray tell, am I missing re your post ?
