Done Modding??? --Yeah right.

Well, I'm at it again.

I was staring at a Ducati S2R 1000, specifically at it's fly screen. The fly screen's design followed the lines of the 919's tank and rear tail rather nicely. Hmmmm. . .

I found a carbon fiber version, and with a clear screen I thought it would look at home on my 9er. Here's a quick PhotoChop side view:

I'll let you guys know how it turns out. . .

Doesn't look right...

I think you need a different front end, maybe the stock front end would look better with it? I'll swap ya, and since i'm such a nice guy I'll even do it for free. Let me know!

Oh, if it were only that easy!

Barton, I believe it is an RC front end.

I'll have to hit you up sometime on the details of your front end swap, parts needed and what not.

They are the Twin X-Cones from MIVV, fabricators of HRC's Repsol MotoGP exhausts. A few other WT members have installed them as well. Do a search on WT for more info.

I liked the Duc screen too. Mine's an older version ( '98? ) and is painted blue now.

They are what I was getting until the Akros came up for sale about 2 hours after I placed my order at PJ's. He was a good sport and let me cancel my order.

The MIVV X-Cone slip ons were the closest to what I wanted for my 919's under tail exhaust: a slim and shorter design, unlike most available aftermarket 919 systems, that would emphasize a high tail and a not so heavy look. I was hoping to find a Yamaha R1 oval canister type design, but none exist for the 9er. A WT member did mount aftermarket R1 slip ons with some fabricating. It looked nice.

Where can you find those MIVV cans and about how much do they run?

2003 Honda 919 - flapper mod, Clear Alternatives Smoke Tailight w/ integral turn signals, Stebel Nautilus air horn, DIY fender eliminator, LED license plate bolts, LED front turn signals, no resistor or new flasher so I blink like crazy.

Hey 9nineteen, I hope i'm not too late to get in on this thread. I've been trying to figure how to modify some rear pegs myself. I see the pro-tek's would need to be ground down on the ends, but that seems to get really close to the hole for the detents. I also think the OEM CBR6 could work, but the brackets would need to be rounded off to allow the peg to swing up. Could you maybe post some close-ups of your pegs and let us in on your fabrication secrets?

By the way, fine job over all, I hope some day my 919 will look as good as yours, A+++

It's the original 2002 Asphalt Grey. . .I wonder about white or even CBR/RR red. . .just the tank and the tail, with the silver bits (swing arm, engine, triples, etc etc.) powder coated black. But, I've always liked the "streetfighter" Asphalt Grey" with the complementing silver bits. And with carbon fiber sprinkled all over the place, it's a look that means business. . .IMHO.

Well, I decided that the 9er looked just fine without the Ducati Monster's carbon fiber fairing. . .she will stay completely naked. This isn't to say I'm done with the modding. Here are two things I did this weekend. . .

Installed Brembo HP rotors:

Applied REAL carbon fiber to the rear shock shield (love the look of CF with the Aphalt Grey Paint). . .
