daily comuter is back!!!!!

The weather has finally imporved enough that the cage hasn't seen day light in two weeks! The 919 is back to its regular rutien of toting my arse around for everything. Work, groceries, errands, fun, more fun and a few more weeks I'll have to go to the drag strip for old times sake.

Who else uses their 9'r for a daily transport? Not just the occational joy ride or tool for picking up the ladies.

I commute about 12 miles each way every day. The weather still has been crappy around here so I've only ridden 3 of the last 7 days.

I use mine for commuting also, accept on days that have a chance of rain. I don't mind riding in the rain, I don't like sharing the wet road with cagers.

Weather hasn't been consistently nice enough around here for me yet. bike is still put away but I am ready to unwrap it!
Gotta do an oil change and install my Circuit 1 pulser cover.
Saw lots of bikes yesterday afternoon, was in the 50's, but we still get into the 20's and have frost overnight.

I commute 15 miles to school and back everyday. Its my only vehicle so it was a little tough there for awhile to get up if I had an 8AM class. 5degrees and windy with snow on the ground isnt very fun to ride in... Definitely liking this florida weather.

Goforit!!

I pulled mine out yesterday. About to go for the 2nd ride of the season in about 30 minutes. With all the rain we had recently the streets are free of salt and ready to ride. I hear you about the overnight lows but technically, i'm in bed, so it don't matter.

I do feel a bit ashamed when I see the goldwings and full dress HDs out on the streets 2-3 weeks before i'm willing to get mine out, but damn, riding naked is just so much freakin colder!!..

Yeah, i commute to work on the 9er every chance I get. Unfortunatly(?) I live about 5 minutes from where I work. My miles beigin to rack up only if I have deployments that take me out of the office.

The weather here has just been crappy for the past 5 plus days...Wet, Cold and rainy...Neither one of my bikes has seen the outside of my garage since the beginning of last week

Looks like Tuesday will be the first day I could consider riding...I'm still deciding on what kind of luggage I want to put on the back of my FZ1...Think I'm leaning towards a set of Nelson Rigs CL-950 Deluxe Saddlebags cause I really don't like the looks of one big bag on the back. I want to be able to ride the bike everyday and I need something to carry my gym stuff and food for the day.

Hey Scrat, its too bad we don't live closer. Seems like you ride about the same as me. I could use a wingman when I go out in temps below freezing.

Ride everyday, with the exception of ice. 919 ideal stead, city, highway, backroads. DC roads has been hell on fork seals, though.

I have a ~25 mile commute; all of it highway.
Traffic either sucks or blows enough that getting off the highway and onto city streets is usually faster.

The 919 makes the commute a lot more fun

commute as often as possible. I went sever months without a car. So for a while I was 100% bike. I bought a car so I wouldn't be wet when I got to work and class.

Rain doesn't bother me, but I don't want to be soggy at my destination if I can't change.

Wow. Good to see everyone is chomping at the bit to get out on their bikes. Somedays arn't exceptionally plesant but I'd if I can ride I'd rather do that than drive anyday. Wet/cold/or whatever.

Zook' I bet you could have bought rain gear and water proof lugage for less than a car. Just messing with you. I wish I could have only one addiction at a time. I've gotten rid of alot of my cars but dang it. An 86 mustang followed me home one day and it was so cute I had to keep it.

I have rain pants, and rain covers for tank and tail bag, but no jacket or gloves. I figured that after 5 months of all bike and 3 months not owning a car it was time to get a replacement car.

I commute every day, 110 klms round trip, rain hail or shine, and love it.
Mind you it only gets down to 22 degrees celsius here in sunny Queensland in winter. The 9'er gets a little hot in traffic jams but when its 30 deg C + but....

Well I ordered my luggage bags last night...Wound up getting Nelson Riggs bags: Small Sport Tail Bag and a Large Magnetic Tank Bag.

Made a trip to my local Cycle Gear to see what they had in stock just to get an idea of what I wanted and I didn't like any of their bags and they were pricey anyway...So I orded mine from newenough.com...I'm really beginning to like the site

So now when ever this gloomy weather gets the heck outta here I can uncover the FZ1 and get it out of the garage

When the temp is above 55 F and its not storming, I used to ride the 20 miles to work and back every day. I now work 3 days a week from home, and only go in 2 days a week to the office, but I still ride whenever I can. And the weather in Kansas has been warm enough off and on this winter that I had 5 or 6 good rides throughout the cold months, which kept the cabin fever to a minimum.

I have a 40 mile commute each way.

If it's above 32 and not raining I'm on the bike.

I work 3rd shift quite often so the bike does not see much road time during the winter months. It might be warm enough to ride during the day, but I leave my house at 8pm and am on my way home around 7am the next day...

I've been riding it in this week at night... man I missed it.

i have not rode since feb. 24. i left texas when it was 86 degrees, drove straight through until i made it home with both bikes on the trailer. well, other than the 8 hour delay waiting out a snow storm in a snow bank less than 40 miles from the safety of my garage and house. Friday somethin is comin out of the garage when i get home!

Probably if you do the speed limit. For the straight the speed limit is 45 with alot of 20 and 30 MPH curves. McCrimmon will do it in 10 mins.

I goto school just off of the 295 bypass so I will take the Mechanicsville Turnpike to "The Trail" and enjoy the ride home...May just have to do it both days After all...work is paying for my mileage

And then ride 17 all the way back to 64...that will stir up the blah staight line 64 route a bit

Had an afternoon meeting canceled, so with perfect weather on the last day of winter inspired with a full tank, so rode the 9er over the mnts down the pacific ocean, watched the surfers then ventured back over an epic mnt pass. 125ml of pure bliss!
