Custom Paint Job Color
Hello everyone!
My new to me 919 is about to get a paint job and I'm willing to try something different. The first 919 I had was painted white with red stripes, the second one was clean and 2007 red, and my third 919 is gloss olive green with a satin black stripe.
That said, this new bike is a red 2006 that has been rashed and is about to get painted. I'm thinking a Magpul Flat Dark Earth kinda theme. Tan on the tank/tail/fender, lots of blacked out bits, with a slight military look. Black out the exhaust cans (shields), grab rail, rearsets, fork lowers.
What do you guys think? Is there any other color other than stock choices that might look awesome on a 9er?

Yeah that military type color theme would look good. There is a pic of a 919 around here with a similar theme. I think it also had a custom under bike low pipe. A dark green would look good. My only concern would be not standing out enough. Black is bad enough. My bike started out a horrible honda red. I painted it the metallic gunmetal black you guys could get in the US. Now I'm seriously considering going silver. Actually I'm a fan of any color with a metallic fleck in it. Here in Aus we can get a metallic burnt orange with a blacked out engine. Looks great. A metallic copper with a blacked out engine would look awesome as well.
That sounds like a cool color scheme to me!

I think the body style of the 919 would work well with the No-Nonsence/Tactical theme.
Probably, will turn out well. We'll need vast quantities of pics.

Here's that burnt orange look.
Here's the military olive green one. This pic was hard to find cause photo bucket has shit itself on this site.
I'll be doing the same honda blue for mine, but I'll be adding some gold flakes to it

If you do go with that theme, I’d love to see it. I’ll probably paint mine in the years to come.
This afternoon I dug out the old busted up 919 parts I had from my first bike and spray bombed them gloss khaki. Let me know what you guys think. Be brutally honest.
Other colors choices are-
Bahama Blue (looks like a slightly darker sky blue)
Gloss Olive Green (which my other 919 is painted)
White with a Black stripe
School Bus Yellow
I'm on the fence about the khaki because I think it would look good if the swingarm, forks, headlight brackets, and rearsets were black, but I'm not digging the scheme just yet.

Maybe if you add some black tiger lines ?
Not going to lie the stock red and blue from honda look gorgeous, especially when brand new <3

Here's some other odd colored 919s. The blue 919 became the white one (for those of you haven't read that story, search 'wrecked 919') and the green one I painted for a friend then ended up trading him for. Keep the thoughts and comments flowing!

white one looks dope

The white/red does look good. So does the dark green/black one. The khaki does look like it's missing something, maybe some desert camo theme stuff.
What about a hornet yellow/black? Like the insect.

Hornet yellow/black sounds interesting!^^
Found a yellow/black 919. A wrist twisters members bike. Looks good. Also thought the yellow/black hornet 250 paint theme looks great.
The black engine which came out on later Australian 919's looks awesome. That yellow 919 would've looked even better with a black engine.

I've always liked the bright colors. Honda would have sold a lot more 919s if they didn't paint them all drab colors, other than candy Red. A friend of mine had a yellow one. I liked it a lot. Orange would be cool.
whatever you go with, I hope you flake it :P

A member that went by Sbeau had a yellow 02, or 03, I think. I wonder if the bike on the left was his?
The bike on the right is a 599, I think. How many of you caught that?

Hey sniper, it's a hornet 250. I just put it up cause I think the yellow/black looks good on it. Black engine and black on the tank with the yellow. In my opinion it looks better than the solid yellow tank.
I wonder how it'd look with blue instead of yellow. Probably not as good since it's a darker base colour.

If you swapped out the yellow on that 250 hornet for a metallic blue and kept all the black on the tank and engine I think it would look great.
White and black it is!
We had some leftover PPG FDXH Ford Truck White and a friend of mine wanted to learn how to paint so he got some practice in with this bike! I used Harbor Freight bedliner-in-a-can to black out the little bits here and there such as the airbox covers, radiator side guards, headlight trim ring, and the exhaust heat shields and I think the bike came out looking pretty good! I almost have the bike back together so I'll take better pictures once that happens. I'm also adding black Honda wing emblems to the tank to break up the miles of white on the tank. I'm still debating the '919' emblems for the tail.
