Choke?

Why does the 919 have a choke despite the fact that it's FI?

Well... if you jack around with your fuel mixtures like I do and then it doesn't idle so hot on a really cold start(Wisconsin talk) for the first 30 seconds... the choke is nice.

It's not really a choke, it's a "fast idle" Just a way to get up to normal operating temp quicker.

Somebody on the Nest was spreading disinformation that it is an "enricher circuit" that activates some hoodungjobbywatchama in the ECU to send more fuel, but if you look under your tank, you'll see that all it does is raise the idle speed. Ragdoll is right, it is nice to have when you bugger up your mixture on cold days.

I think that may have been me, but I have to admit that was based on prior experience with "other" bikes / cars etc.

Keep in mind however that the ECU does get info from a throttle position sensor, so if you raise the idle by opening the throttle..............

In any case, you'll most likely hardly ever use it so it aint worth getting hot an' bothered over!

You are the biggest numb-skull ever!
The Choke knob is that black knob that's about a 5 or 6 inches down below the tank on the left side of the bike.
It's hanging on a little bracket off the motor just under the throttle boddies and below the throttle position sensor.
It pulls in and out. Don't rotate it!

Why yes it does! you just have to be able to reach into the right side tail pipe to activate it. Only problem is there is only one person with hands small enough on this site that can accomplish said task and their name is.........

Spoiler:
RAGDOLL
