Do you know the story of how they came to think it was a good idea to cut the car up to transport the bike?

He lives in Alaska and it was good for nothing else.

I've wondered what happened to him to. Hope he's okay.

Man, Murf, you are realllllly bored if you're Googling "Motorcycles in the Rain".

Supposed to get into the 50 Sat, I think. Bout time for you to take Valorie or Veronica, or what ever you call her, for a spin. Make that "ride". No spinning.

He got a little miffed over political issues as well, best not to discuss that.

Well, and he got more than a little miffed when it was suggested he replace the rods when he had it all apart - seemed to be on edge towards the end, I miss him too, as strange as that sounds......

Not ghey, strange, right?

RIGHT?!?!?!

I'm dropping him an email to see whats up

If I remember correctly he got the car for nothing or next to nothing and it had a ton of miles on it so why spend money buying a truck, I don't think it's his daily driver. I miss having Bucky around.

I remember he once jumped my case because I had a rifle in the background of a pic that I posted. Ever since then i'vekind of wondered about him.......

He was trying to get the Tinman into the 10's at the dragstrip. Tinman boomed.

9s. I stand corrected. It was a long time ago.

10.4 on a 919 is still impressive.

He's doing good, his job has gotten really busy and he has a girlfriend now too - but the 919 has not been totally neglected -

Here is some of the motorcycle related commentary -

Quote:
Well, I cooked a spark plug and piston in 2008.

Basically, my nitrous typically is charged to around 900 psi.
I’d been getting sick of NOT hitting nine second quarters.
One day when I cracked the NOS bottle, I heard the gauge needle literally “ping” off the peg as it buried at 1500 psi.

I thought, “eh, I should try it! Either hit the nines or break it trying” and I did.
Quickest run ever, but it wouldn’t idle after the run.

So, even though the cylinder was only marginally scored, I also had a crack near the countershaft sprocket from a time that my chain came derailed, and I also had trouble with the clutch cover fasteners that occurred when I modified my bike for a lockup clutch.

So, all things considered, I bought brand new cases from service honda, had them shipped to millennium technology to be bored 1 over and hand honed to each piston….forged wiseco 12.5 : 1 from Pistonguy. Ported my head and bought the very last hornet Crane cams from Erion which are 900RR cams with f.i. cam trigger hub welded on.
Cams were big $$ and messed up when I got them, so I sent them to be weld repaired. Sent head, valves, and pistons to Swain Tech in upstate NY for thermal and lubricity coatings. Putting it all together now. Rod and crank bearings on the way, most other money has already been spent…in theory. HOPING to hit it this year.
He mentioned that he has lurked from time to time, I'd expect to see him around again in the future.

Hopefully sooner rather than later.

"He got a little miffed over political issues as well, best not to discuss that."
nah. i may have engaged in some discussions over my former quitter of a governor, but i wasn't miffed at all. i just play the part of a curmudgeon in here. and occasionally elsewhere...

"Well, and he got more than a little miffed when it was suggested he replace the rods when he had it all apart "
not really again. i challenge peoples' assertions sometimes. i think rods were mentioned as a "must have, you're not smart if you don't replace" and i would have used strong language with anyone who speaks in absolutes about mechanical issues, typically.

Zaq, i've got to admit, YOU are kinda retarded. okay, this is a good example of my reputation. i don't suffer fools gladly. when people say stupid things out of ignorance and veil them in a "i know more than you know" context, i typically give them a slap. that "powered trailer" , my El Civico, was a free car. instead of riding a hardtail drag bike in $1000 leathers 50 miles each way to the racetrack just to see if it's raining there, i stay dry now. and i can drink my coffee. enjoy a smoke. carry tools. spare nitrous bottle. laptop for altering PCIII maps. also, my bike is long and low. it can't get on most trailers without high centering. my civic is set up perfectly for transporting that bike, gets 40 mpg (better mileage than the bike), and just flat works. there would be no benefit, and only detriment to pulling a trailer. okay, scratch that. it'd be quieter if the civic still had a roof. but i can deal with noisy. parking at the track in the pits would be harder, driving in general would be a bit more of a pain, i'd have to have a place to store the trailer 8 months of the year...must i go on? haven't i bitched enough ?

Sniper, i'm an NRA life member. can't imagine i give a shat about a pic of a rifle. perhaps there was something in the context that i groused about. eh. so what. i'm just a fictional character on the internet.

HondaJim, that's the chump line. 56B-UCKY, right? never use it for anything but internet. used to be a fax line.

MisterMike, not to be a jerk (for a change) but actually i got him down to a 10.26 @ 134. still calling myself "world's quickest 919" unless someone's got evidence to call b.s. on me.

Also, i think i called someone fat because i thought i had a back and forth good natured razzing going with them, just to find out i called the wrong guy fat. so , sorry steve. still, you could pause longer at the salad bar, as of a few years ago anyway...(and so could i)

waiting for crank and rod bearings...should be here this week. new engine is still on my dining room table, waiting for bearings and me to get more motivated. it is my guess, and my goal, that i will be capable of LOW 10's off the juice, and solid mid 9's on it. porting, compression, cams, and a few more cc's ought to help flow the juice through and do something meaningful with it, vs. trying to force mixture through the stock head.

i'd like to reiterate that i had HUNDREDS of wot engine-only drag runs on the bike, and hundreds more on nitrous. and it was MY fault that i holed a piston. don't let people b.s. you about nos. EVERY power adder...cams, compression, forced induction, higher revs...they ALL compromise reliability. this failure was MY fault for operating the NOS system outside of normal or even sensible parameters. on cast pistons.

regardless of some of my rants...peace y'all.

nope. i MAY this year, just for mapping purposes. but getting in the 9's was my only concern. based on weight/trap speed etc. i'd guess i was making around 140-145 rear wheel last year, but the nitrous system was never making all it had. i was jetted for a 65 hp increase but CERTAINLY wasn't making 170rwhp. well, that one run when i wheelied an 8" stretched and 3" lowered bike through the top of second gear...i bet i was making 165hp for a second or two, till the nitrous pressures dropped.

Good luck with getting into the 9's....... I bet with all those upgrades it will get there
What gearing are you running?
Its a little ironic that you will be starting your rebuild and today ive started to strip mine...i stripped the cylinder head today and most of the bits off the block to make it a little easier to lift out of the frame
