Bought a 919

Well, today I traded my R6 in on a 04 919. Only rode about 50-60 miles, but so far I love it. Handles well, like the motor, and way more comfortable. I can't wait to take a trip to the mountains. I took that flyscreen off and the centerstand will probably go to. Might work on that fender tonight.

Hey, congrats on the new ride! Did you and pdavidson end up doing that trade from your other thread? Is it still making the front brake squeal that some of us are also getting?

It's a great bike. I'm new to the 9'er, this forum, and loving both.

Now I know what my bike will look like with Erion pipes.

Can you comment on the sound? Is it really loud?

Welcome to the site! I'm a new guy too.

Unfortunately that trade fell through.

This is the bike I test rode that was making the brake noise. I heard it a couple of times yesterday, but it doesn't seem to do it every time.

They are a little loud, but not obnoxious. I can post a video if you want.

Not yet. I'm thinking I'll get a Buell headlight and/or flyscreen down the road. And I actually like the centerstand, I'm just concerned it might take away some ground clearance.

I just discovered that I can include multiple quotes in one reply.

Do what you want.... the c-stand tucks way out of sight, weighs nearly nothing and is VERRRRY handy to have. I use mine constantly. You're not going to want to go over 80mph for very long without that screen either. Maybe ride it a while before making those 2 changes. The r6 is a very fine machine, but you will like the 919 on the street a whole lot more. Love the 06 red!

Here ya go Snipe. Personally, I like the naked look of aftermarket cans with no heat shields. Been running Satos with no shields for 2 years now with no heat problem.

Nice bike. Yeah, without a windscreen 80 is fun, but not as fun with one. I had the givi A755. Need to get a new one though.

Ahhh, they sound sweet! It has a low sound even when you rev it.

I guess I'll be having Christmas in September this year. :santa:

Were you inside your garage?

I was inside the workshop I keep my bikes in. I had the double doors open directly behind the bike, so I don't think it a big affect on the sound.

Could you post a pic? I read your post this morning and went out and took a look and tried to imagine what It might look like without them. I've got Yoshi cans and it appears that without the shields you would see the big, ugly slip on joint more than anything else.

TIA

I think I'm going to keep it. It hasn't caused any ground clearance problems.
