I came in here expecting to say black... but I think I like the engine color. Carries the contrast more evenly.

Ya, I think on the later years that have black bits on the engine the black rearsets are nice. But my 04 has all one color on engine so the later year rearsets (mine were originally silver) with the engine color looks better...

Engine color looks surprisingly good.

Actually, now I'm curious what it would look like if the frame cover and swingarm were also that dark matte grey.

I say paint it all black, especially the chrome. Don't forget to get black blinker fluid too...
