Black Renthal Ultra Lows?

So I've still got a brand new Renthal UL bar sitting in my store room. It's silver. Got it from Dennis Kirk. Problem is, the Renthal Road Highs that I'm running now are a gloss black which I really like the look of. The more I think about it, the more I want to find an Ultra Low in the same color / finish. Can't seem to find where to order it in black - specifically the same gloss black as my High bars. I got them from an old MR forum member who isn't around any more. Dennis Kirk doesn't offer it in black although the Renthal site shows it in the color swatches.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Paint them ???

Hang them up in the garage and spray them with some good Black paint - that's what I would do.

Nah, the finish on the High Road bars is a gloss black anodized finish. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

I thought of that as well guys. Possibly even powdercoat them black. That might be interesting. But I remember seeing at least a couple of 9ers around the forum that have black Ultra Lows. Just wondering where those guys got them and if they're still available. If so, I'll just send the silver ones back to Dennis Kirk and order some in black.

I used to have black ultra lows on my 9er, and the place I bought them from still sells them in black... but what are you willing to do to get them?

Ok well I bought them from Busters Motorcycle Accessories in the UK...
http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/default.asp

might cost you a little more than buying them in the states, you know shipping and all...

I bought mine at a time when they stopped selling the Renthal road bars in the states... now you can buy them from a few distributor in the states but only certain colors, I just bought a set of the titanium color ultra lows & bar ends from
Cal-Sportbike.com, I didn't feel like waiting to have them shipped from the UK...

anyways hope this helps you...

it's going great, luckly I saved all my O.E. parts (Headlamp & footpegs/control levers). I should have the 9er in riding condition by this weekend. I bought new speedo/tack lens, mounting body for the speedo/tach, stickers for the tank from ronayers.com. Going have the new tank painted new week, the old tank doesn't leak but is badly dented, but I can ride the 9er until the tank is done being painted...

thanks for asking!
good luck with the ULs...

yea, I would say powdercoat but that would probably screw with the fit of everything. If you use spraypaint, make sure you scuff up the bar first with some light sandpaper or coarse steel wool. After you spray it, several light coats, I would let it hang and cure for a couple of weeks or more before using it. I have experience with spray-canning bicycle frames, and the paint is easily scratched/chipped for a while until the paint has a good while to cure.

I powdercoated everything that wasn't black on my 919. had a friend who does it in his basement. looks great and is tough as nails. i just put a set of Moto-x PRO-Tapers on the bike and I love them, Widder, Lower, less pull back. School Bow Lows in Black. very cool.

Very stealth looking. Now you need a set of Pazzo levers to compliment the rest of the bike.

My problem with the ultralows are they are so damn wide and give the bike a wierd squatty position. IDK thi si comoing from me putting renthal ultra lows on my 93 nighthawk. They dont look bad on the 9er but i and still questioning the width when looking at the beautiful lines of this bike. Whats everyone elses thoughts on this?

Your talking about 65 mm or 32.5 mm per side. Not exactly what I would call too wide!

Some of us have ground off the pins, I prefer to drill and pin the switches. Gives me peace of mind especially the throttle side. See my How-to page

+1 on the drilling for locator pins

also on the theory of it weaking the bars at that point...
I have 1st hand experience that in my 70-80mph low side, the bars did bend and eventually broke, but not even close to the location of the hole I drilled...

+1 on Drilling

but i would ride a little bit to get the bars where you want them first.

My bars needed to rotate Back a little bit once i put some miles on. Now the Horn and the start Button are a little bit to the underside of the bars
