Another 900RR conversion done!!

Hey guys!!

I too finnally got the 900RR header done and LOVE IT! I was brave and went with a new set of delkevic headers, $190 I couldn't go wrong! I went back and forth and back and forth and then back again and decided to go with a two bros carbon fiber muffler. I had bought two mufflers so I had a couple options, I have the scorpion street extreme one also, but decided to use the 2 bros. I'm very happy with the end result. Sounds great, its not too loud but its a deep note, VERY NICE TUNE. I do not have the power commander yet, but that will be done this winter. Seems to run awesome with this set up, no popping or hesitation. Just power!

Delkevic headers- Very good customer service, I called on a thursday (evening) and they were sent out friday. Also provided a tracking number so that was also nice. The finished product was EXCELLENT! Nice welds, clean lines, and mounted right up! One thing I needed to do, which isnt a HUGE deal was cut off the mount tab underneath the bike, it didnt quite line up (as maryland mike knows ). So I cut if off and then the pipe fit like a glove. I will have that bracket re-welded on there soon. Also, at the end of the pipe, there diameter seemed to be a little bit larger than the two bros 900RR muffler I had, so I had to get the muffler end bored to fit, other than that, Great exhaust. I think another difference with the delkevics was the 2 inner pipes have a different bend than any other 900rr header I ve seen?? Also, when I got the header, the part number tag showed that the headers were 900RR 92-99. Well, as we all know that wasn't correct. I believe these are the late model header because I did cut off the flange for the slip on muffler.

So here she is!!!! -

I think it turned out great. Couple minor things I will have done soon, I am by no means a machinest so dont laugh at my metal skills. I did go and buy some metal to work with and did cut, bend and drill a mount tab. Im going to take the bike over to a buddy that builds custom bikes and see if he can make something a little cleaner. I just really wanted to get on the road and ride!!! Also, Im going to get a sleeve made for a cleaner look where the muffler slips on the header. Im just dont like the look right now.

Here is a sound clip, (I hope this works!!)

Also, to clean up the rear end ( ) I went with a clear alternatives integrated tail light. Very nice, I really like the look. I made my own custom lic. plate bracket!! I'm really proud of that one! LOL

Here is a couple pictures from a ride last week. I did notice a increase in power, seemed to pull even harder when getting on it from 1st- 3rd. I really wish this bike had more top end, but love the bottom end. Another thing I noticed was the weight, WOW. Now I can really flick this thing around in the corners. Next in line for mods will be updated suspension revalved/resprung and steelbraided lines, I need those NOW! and motovation sliders, But I will have to wait for winter. Dang bikes!

Well thats about it, a BIG thanks to Maryland Mike, he answered every question I had! Very helpful. And Basspiece, googl3it, allanb, and anyone I forgot!

let me know what you guys think!!

Nice job. Very clean looking installation.

I really like the look of the back end with the bulky fender/signals taken off.

Well done.

Very nice looking bike. Did you use anything to seal the connection between the pipe and exhaust?

Brilliant - good to know those Delkevic headers are the bizz too - I cannot believe the price - super cheap.

I've just ordered a replacement set of Renthal ultra lows - I tossed up for a bit over grey or gold (presently have grey) but went with the grey again. Now I've seen yours in gold on the black bike I think they look bloody good. Meh - next time!

Nice job Z, when you get the connection between the header and muffler fixed you should change the angle to get the muffler closer to the swing-arm

DennisKirk has a fair selection of donor mufflers in their close-out section that would suit this modification - pick a muffler for any litre sized bike and you'll be away.

Delkevic header sub$200 - muffler around $200 - a bit of mucking around and maybe a $50 joiner pipe and you'll be all set-up for the price (or less than) a pair of slip-ons.

The bike looks AWESOME Z!

I don't mean to take anything away from you project, but I see g00gl3it's bike all the time and now can't think of anything else but to do a 900rr header conversion with blacked out pipes with a CF muffler.

I have a problem......

Yo man nice look. But what you go'in to do with that Scorpion can, is it shorter than most. Am look'in for a inexpensive track can for my 2Bro single. PM me if you still got it.
But yes will be look'in on Denis Kirk site. Want something shorter than the full 2Bros length.

Hey Z what bike did that pipe come from? And did you have to modify the header beyond the mounting tab and cutting off the bolt on flange?

Common sense. So rare it's a god damn super power.

The pipe is off a 900RR. It was the slip on style, so thats why I needed to cut off the end flange for the 900rr pipes that bolt on. No other mods needed to be done other than cutting off the mount tab (which will be re mounted) and the end flange.

Yo Z, where were you guys on that ride? I know it's like a month old. I usually hang out in the southeast around Welch Village/Redwing area, but wouldn't mind checking out some new areas. Always like to see the curvy road sign.

There's plenty of people on here that prefer the undertail look, they just don't go into peoples threads that just did a RR conversion and tell them they don't like it...
