a lucky day ?!!!

so on today's track day it was raining rather hard, so i figured i would use the opportunity to practice locking in and hanging off further to keep the bike upright, and just look for reference points.
The first 4 laps were not to bad, a little squirmy, but i started putting on some pace and reeling in a few bikes (cant help myself). I am coming down to turn 1, the fastest on the track, hang off and tip in .... sweet... then i guess i gassed it up too much on the exit and the back comes around. here i think I blew it and rolled off.. bad move.. the bike snaps left, right and highsides.
Now this is where it gets real bad, I hit the gound and the bike and think this is cool i am sliding sort of on my back, no promblems>i then realise the handle bar is caught up inside my helmet as i slide off the track into the sodden earth and i realise i cannot let the bike go or i will be pulled along by my neck. I hold on for all i am worth thinking any moment the crash knob will dig in flip the bike and rip my head off.
Man i was so scared (i am shaking again as i write).
Any way the bike ploughed instead of flipping as we have had a week and a half of rain and because i am a lucky sob.
The bike is a mess, I have a immovable lump for a right hand and i cannot breath, laugh or cough as i landed on my ribs and they are very very sore, and a bruised face where the bar caught up.

i am expecting a lot more pain tomorrow :-) .

A handle bar in the helmet... who would have thought.

Shit mate that sounds like a horror fall!

I've not heard of a bar being caught like that before, you are very lucky to be typing today!

That would have killed lesser men. You're a tough sob.

But I still want to see a pic of the bike.

Oh Damn Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Us Daves gotta watch out for each other. Maybe mix a percocet and a barley pop for some pain relief. But, not too often. Don't need to see ya slide off of the big track of life. You be cool, mate and peruse without typing to spare that lump of a hand some unnecessary agony.

Dave,

You are VERY lucky.
You had a real "Almost".
The saving grace was the bar being under the helmet as compared to through it.
I know of a home town area dirt tracker, may he rest in peace, who had a "through it".
NEVER track or race with bars with unplugged ends is all that I will say on this point.

Past that, get well soon.

thanks for the thoughts guys.
Artic,Yeah the fuel pump worked a treat.
Beefsalad loved the poem thing, at 52 this body has copped a bit (no pictures).
Sore this morning, but my head is clear.
Just gotta clean the mud off my gear and somehow get the bike off the truck, cant bring myself to touch it yet though.
On another note the dianese held up great, wore a small hole in the side of the pants, and small tear on the jacket. Gloves are trashed but all my bark is intact,
The crash knob wore flat to the fairing, , all the left side is trashed and thefront sub frame seriously bent.
Other than that everything is peachy

Wow Dave I on one hand you were very lucky and on the other hand not so much! I just can't imagine getting the bar stuck in your helmet while sliding off the track. I've slid off the track a couple of times and it actually was pretty exciting but not with the handle bar in my helmet, no thanks.

Well I hope you get all put back together real soon.
