919's with attitude

I'm settling up with my insurance company this week and I'll soon have some $$$$'s burning a hole in my pocket. I like all the good things about the 919, but as CW said in the recent issue, "nice bike but." "I wonder if it was painted red and had a racing stripe and Italian name we would say the same."

It just needs abit of attitude.

Can anyone link me to some pics of 919's with attitude? I know some tuners, somewhere must have built 919's that inspire motolust. Save me from a Monster or Speed 3!

jayfooey rides his with attitude

trickhornet just has a 'tude

alexa's hornet just keeps getting better and better

steve fisher built something a couple years back that wasn't bad

dave a ema-usa showed us some nice conversions and what the 9r looks like when $ is no object

pete at citybikes did a nice setup but we all know sc did it long b4

steve built a nice blacked out single pipe bike that oozed attitude

krat's 9r died w/ attitude

bigass and the green hornet just keep goin and goin...

but let's get serious...remember max action?

heck, just drop by the Nest Gallery and start looking...might even stumble over Debben's NOS Hornet

or mayber Irfan's site over at wildhair..the 9r section shows what bolt-on mania can do for the big hornet

and we know irfan get's his stuff over the water, home of places like the
MC16 concept...just a few mods there, eh?

how long ago was the thread by Ocool?

seriously, every comment above could have a link to the info described and many many pics of highly mod'd hornets...but you're gonna have to do a little internet exercise and hunt it up for the time bein cause i'm not done w/ the new place just yet...

cheers

ratdog, speaking of your site, is there a way to actually BECOME a member? I've tried numerous times to no avail. Thanks!

To get back on thread, my honest opinion is that you do what YOU think looks best/shows attitude. When I was(still am) building my 88 RX-7, I never went with the popular choices. I did my thing, and in the end, people would stop me and say, "whoa...that's awesome! You don't see them looking like that anywhere else!".

What I'm saying is that YOUR idea of an awesome looking Hornet just might be what everyone is waiting to see.

+1 I've tried a few times too. The account creation process sends the verification email but it rejects the login attempt. Tried with a couple different names. Looks like the Nuke auth database may be borked.

Yep that's me, unfortunitely i won't be on the track again until next season. The track bike and i didn't agree on turn 2 at Pacific and I busted up the knee enough to put me off the bike for a few months.

Sorry to hear about the get off! Brandon does take some nice hero shots, huh? What Pacific day was that? I was up there for the first time on my Gix on 8/29 and kept hitting the depression / crack on the exit of T2 until I strated taking a different line to stay inside longer. The 3-4 corkscrew was a hoot, too! Haven't had the 919 on the track this year, but have put a ton of trip mileage on it out in Central Oregon and N. Cali.

The mod I am working on right now is grafting a '96 zx9r front-end to the bike. I don't recommend doing this unless you are rich (I am not, but I've started so I can't stop). At the same time I am installing a nifty Acewell gauge. Someone stop me before I make myself homeless!

(Why am I using the zx9r frontend and not the RC51? Because the zx9 forks are long enough and the offset for the triple is correct. This helps to not change the trail too much. The RC51 set up does not meet these requirements. Well, you might be able to make the offset work with some adjustable triples, but those can get super expensive)

Oh yeah, and thanks for all the props!

It was the 7/16 NESBA day. First day on my Gix 6. 3rd session out it was my own stupid fault. Wicked up the trottle too much before i was used to the bike. I have to say it's been a good head shrinking excersize.

Hey i remember seeing your bike @ SBNW '05. I think you talked to my buddy Mark who also rides a 9ner.

roktbox, love that picture of the road.

It looks like it was designed by a motorcyclist. Instead of a straight line we will have a couple of nice sweeping corners.

Yeah there's a ton of those out in the Pacific NW Columbia River Gorge area. We have Sportbike Northwest out there. I've even booked a hotel for a long weekend and just ridden all weekend out there. It's great fun and beautiful scenery plus if you're lucky you'll meet Sasquatch.

psd is correct, the offset is an issue...how much of an issue depends on the rider. those looking to maintain the friendly streetmindedness of the 9r will care more than those hittin the track and generally thrashin the bulletproof naked machine

the 929/954 front end sits 1.5" low and w/ renthal lows as bars...it was waaay too low and twitchy for me

the rc51 forks are a much better match on fork leg length but the triples (rc51/954/929) will not have the correct offset; Harris makes an adjustable set of triples for an NSR that will work, S&P has a set of triples that will work...last time I checked, both setups ran approx $800 (that info is a couple yrs old)

i don't know the details wrt offset, of the 600rr swap

never looked at the ZX solution and I don't know the details of OCool's efforts so it will be interesting to hear about the fabrication required (meaning, pics, costs details etc.)

and just 4u psd...early pics of the green goblin... bab will have to post the more recent stuff
