919 sparkplugs/plug wires/boots

How does one know when or if the plug wires need to be changed out? I saw in Mayday's problem thread that bad wires/boots can be an issue.

Next time I pull my plugs, I think I may replace em...but whats the best vendor to get em from?

...and do the 919's plug wires/boots come in different colors, or just red?

Thanks

.

Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!

Automotive wires are scheduled to be changed about every 90-100k, and those wires are handling much more power than the bikes wires are. You can test your wires resistance are compare them for uniformity, but as far as adding them to your maintenance schedule...when ya hit 100k go ahead and order them up.

Some people don't get that twisting the crap out of them will cause a wire to break inside, but unless your a...(shut up Todd)... I wouldn't worry. Just don't tie your wires in a knot and yank the heck out of 'em, they'll be fine. If your worried, test the resistance and compare the numbers of each wire, as long as you don't have much more than a 10% difference, your good.

( and yes old dog grumpy know-it-all guys, I do realize that all 4 wires could be weak AND reading within 10%...but what are the odds?)
