919 no mention in Honda announcement

Interesting...
Honda makes an announcement about some new models and mentions some as "returning". The 919 among others is not mentioned in either "new and improved" nor in the "bold new colors" category...
http://motorcycledaily.com/05september07_2008hondas.htm

Any ideas what this means?

<fantasy world>Maybe they're finally making the Honda Monster with an RC51 mill, top shelf suspension, and NAS styling cues</fantasy world>

The announcement also fails to mention any of the sport bikes in the returning column, ie. 1000RR, 600RR CBR125, etc. so I don' think we can draw any conclusions on whether or not the 919 will return or not...

uhhh... anyone else think the 1000RR is ugly? I need to see some more pics, but first impression is, gross.

Cool signals in the mirrors, exhaust is cool, but the nose is not so cool.

Was the 599 mentioned? When I talked to the dealer yesterday, he said the 599 was all done.

Wasn't the 599 done in 2006???

Last year Honda had only 4 sportbikes:
919
VFR
600rr
1000rr

That's it! Almost every other non-US manufacturer had more.

And two of those are a reach as far as sportbike is concerned.

If a 600 supersport is as good or better than the 919, why would honda keep both ? Especially here in the states where the 9'er is obviously not selling. I mean, jeez.

Maybe there will be a 919 replacement in 09 with a 1000rr motor?
All it really needs is 145HP and upside down forks to be competitive.
If I was looking for a new naked it would probably be the new 675 Street triple or maybe if Buel does a lightning with their new rotax.

Not that it means anything as it came from a salesman, the 599 is done here because honda went to a carbon fiber chassis that's made by hand and doesn't meet u.s. safety guidelines. I dunno.

I did read the honda tag on an 07 niner and it had the word > musclebike< in it. I chuckled.

The 599 has a new alloy frame very similar to what the last 599, 919 have. That salesman smokes to much weed.

Man, he must have the good stuff! I want some if it'll turn my bike frame into carbon fiber, I love carbon fiber!
