919 is painted, back together, and back on the road!

Finished the body and paint work this weekend, got everything back together last night, rode today.

Painted it a Du Pont fleet color (two stage) called Medium Concord Blue.
I agonized over paint chips...sooo many shades of blue...but settled on this one. Glad I did, it turned out exactly the shade I wanted!

Used a stud welder on the tank. Tapped down the high spots, and used very little filler.

The scuff on the tail piece sanded out.

More before shots here:https://wristtwisters.com/naked-bikes...-919-pics.html

And the now:

You agonized over the color so long, all of your hair fell out! :-)

The bike looks great. I agree, the color is very nice.

Cool - a slightly different shade to the stock blue ones we have in New Zealand, possibly a bit deeper - looks better.

That is a very nice shade blue. Maybe my next project will be something similar... now to just find the project.

I've been toying with the idea of an offset racing stripe. I think it would be to busy with that and the wings.
I kind of like the clean look right now though, may end up dropping the stripe idea.

I do want to replace the "919" stickers, but they are kind of pricey. $18.69 at Bikebandit!

Any local decal place can make you a set of decals. Any color you want. I've had 2 different sets made here. Cost is about $5 a decal. I even had custom Hornet decals made.

$18 is cheap - go for it mate!

Regarding the stripes - you can have a vehicle sign-writing company stick some on with the 3M (or similar) vinyl graphic material. These can be removed later if desired with careful application of heat and peeling.

I'm thinking a slightly metallic silver will look very smart with that shade of blue.

the stock honda decals have a backround color that matches the bike so you'll have a blue bike with silver wings and a green backround(for example)

That's almost exactly what I was going to do, minus the small line that goes over the center of the tank.

I actually have a set of Fiat rocker panel stripes, in black 3M Scotchal material, that have two 1 1/4" stripes with a 1/4" stripe between them.
I was planning to cut one of the big lines off.
Bought the entire set at an estate sale for $1.
Didn't have a use for them at the time, but they were $1.

Still, I'd be interested in seeing your source (website?) if you can find it again.

Bike looks very good in that color. What mirrors are you using. I've been looking for some different ones. I like Rizoma but just can't swing the price for a pair. Thinking a pair of bar ends would do.

Beautiful blue. This is exactly what I was envisioning for a 599 I found last fall that needed some TLC, but I probably would not have done as well at picking the exact shade. My wife didn't like the feel of the bike, though, so we didn't buy.

Nice job.

Those are cool, as well as the 3D chromed "Hornet" emblem, but @ $57 each set (+shipping from Italy) I don't see me buying them.

Gots other bits to buy.

On the upside, I finally scored a M2 flyscreen on ebay. Should be here any day.
With any luck I'll get the time to prep and paint it this weekend.

Ok, I took some pics of my decals for you. They can be made in any color. Mine are the black with silver outline. My wife wanted the red outline. They run about $5.00 a decal. If you want some made let me know and I can get them for you.

Those do look good!

I'm still undecided on if I want decals, stripes, or nothing at all.

I'm going to ride it for a bit before I decide.

If I decide on decals, I will most definately hit you up.
Thank you for the offer.
